Hello guys I'm new to the group...
I'm 48 an would like feed back on the TURP surgery...
I've had issues with my prostate over the past 2 years. Last October it was 3.9 cm x 4.9 cm. An now its measured at 5.9 cm x 5.7 cm during the past year I've noticed I was getting 5-8 times a night and during the having to rush to the restroom with no time spare, an the past 4 months I've had to force my urine out. Called doc he ordered uro dynamics test, it showed that my bladder has no reaction when I'm full of urine. Doc said NY prostate is so large its shutting off my uretha tube. So he said I need the TURP surgery. .
I'm so unsure about this cause I've had penial implant surgery this past Jan. and if I have the TURP I'll loose my ejaculation...
I also would like to know how to do all with not being able to cum?
Please give me your thoughts on these madders...
Thanks
Carl

I have gone to get a second opinion an way told that I needed the TURP.. Neither one of the doc said anything about a urolift as some other had suggested..
I'll see what else I can find out on what route I can go.
Thanks

I'm not going to be appearing in an porno movie and we are well past the age of having children, so its a trade off really, no catheter = no ejaculate. Sounded ok to me and I'm glad i went for it.. I would do it over in a heartbeat. Tell me, do you wear a catherter now or did you? I wore one for 59 days and all I can say is "never again'. I made the right decision.

Sounds like a difficult thing for you.
Do you know the size? You may be eligible for the Urolift. Please look in to the Urolift procedure.
I just had it done last week and so far I am amazed. TURP - in 90% of cases - causes retrograde ejaculation. And most guys don't like that. Urolift has no side effects. Just a brief recovery process.
You can also ask Jim James about "self-cathing" until you decide what to do.
But please look at optins other than the TURP. Urolift is my number one suggestion. But I am no doc.
Best,
Chip
All the best,
John

I'm still up in the air about this surgery.

I am taking my time on making a decision on this. They had it scheduled once an I called already an cancelled it.
I feel I'm to young to give up my ejaculation, even though we are done having kids...

And you already are aware of the ejaculate issue.
But I would strongly suggest googling Urolift.

Doc said it wouldn't be an issue just would take longer to do the surgery...
Thanks

65 grams? 75 grams? Extremely large could be 120 grams. Which may be considered too large for Urolift procedure.
But - like you are doing - gather as much info as you can! And lok at all your options.
Self cathing can give you time so you don't have to rush into a surgery. And self-cathing can help you avoid the emergency room if you have a problem voiding.

Chip

They just told me it was in cm 5.9x5.7
I have self cath before back in 09 when I had a stroke. I self cathed for 8 months then had a super pubic put in an had it for 2 years...
I'm so torn about this discision..
Ill put a call into my doc an see if the urolift would be an option.
Thanks so much

On present facts if I had to decide again PAE seems the answer but it is new and we don't know of any long term effects. It would appear to be the only procedure where your prostate should no longer continue to grow.
