Eye flutter and pain

My TN was diagnosed last June so a lot of this is new to me. My TN effects upper and middle nerve so pain strikes nose eye and forehead area. Doc has had it under pretty good control until 4 weeks ago. My eye has started this thing where it twitches and feels like eye is being scratched with sharp eyelashs or pricked with them and it gets out of focus when reading or using iPhone, computer, etc. Doc raised my gabapetin from 300mg, 3 times day to 300mg 4 times a day. It hasn't given me complete relief. I'm going tomorrow to see my optometrist to see if it is problem with my eye. Has anyone experienced this? Please let me know.

I have had TN for 16 yrs.  I too have had all these eye symptoms.  I saw an eye specialist wh did a particular scan., problem. Was a Very Dry Eye.. So I use a thick lube, can get across the counter. I put it in at night, as it makes eyesight blurry for about 1/2 hr.. And takes mascara off !  So every night works. You can feel it soothing.

Thank you for responding. I had not thought about it but 6-9 yrs ago upon eye exam the optometrist told me I had dry eyes. I use Systane drops but only as needed. I hope that is what doc says tomorrow. If so, maybe I can go back to 900mg of gabapentin. I hope so.

Since you've had this much longer than me, have you found it has gotten worse over time and you have had to take more medicine?

My eye guy , said. Needed a thicker one. I use Refresh, in tube.. It lasts so much longer.  TN is still in the eye just not as severe. Also, I started treatment of IMS. .google it., since then, because it is stimulating the shorter muscles in my shoulder,,which go into the face and head.. I can now hear better n that ear..I can feel the back of my throat, eye is t as severe..because now I can wear glasses for short spells.. Like sewing, or painting. Pictures..etc. also, chewing is much easier

    Hi,

Before I started getting pain in my left eye I developed a tic in the eyelids. In the last year or so I have also developed a tic in the right eye's lids.I now get pain there too. My Neurologist confirmed that I have Bilateral TN and in all three branches due to the other pains and shocks I get. In the last few days I have had very little pain (sshhh!) so I can only assume that the medication is working. We shall see.

    Best wishes to all.

Yes, I had the same. It was dry on both sides. Doc did a scan that showed the dry areas.. I was shocked. He said gong down that same path, I would have had blurry vision within 6 months,  so  I lubed each night...and 6 mo later.. Nothing poor showed on the scan. ...and the the tic left.  I had that tic for probably 20 yrs. ..
