Hi i have been on meds for over 4 months now carbmizole

Startrd of 30mg a day .

Been reduced to 20mg last 3months. I still feel like my heart is fluctuating.

Somedays i dont want to move so lack of energy . Brain feels foggy and sometimes a little light headed.

I have had to go on the pill to regulate my period also.

And also have gained over 8kg.

Im 28 . I have 2 girls and i can barely keep up with them.

I work 4 days a week .

Does it ever get better ?

Currently diagnosed as hyper( relapse)

Currently under suspicion of graves disease. Really hoping i dont have it . See my endo in two weeks

    Hi Kylie

Sorry to hear all this. Wth regard to the increase in weight. I wondered how much of this is due to the pill?

Mind my asking the ages of your girls?  I ask because sometimes one can get hyperthyroidism associated with pregnany>

Have you informed your dr of all of this?

    Take care

      Hi Janet

It could be the pill doing it but only been on that for a 1month.

Girls ages are 7 and 4

I had my first hyper about 3 years ago . But was treated wrong . Doctor only put me on carb. For two months and that was it . I stabilised. And there was no follow up .

I havnt yet spoke to my doc about weight gain

But see my endo on the 27th of this month

I'm told it does get better, I'm not there yet, been on for 4 months too. I was on 20 mg , but it was upped to 30 mg last week , for a month, as my levels were rising again.

i feel horrible still, but better than in January. I lost loads of weight. It now fluctuates up and down by a stone!!!

Nothing I can do to change that.

i take recommended supplements, try to eat well , and avoid anything other than gentle exercise or I get a hyper attack.

i have Graves with acute T 3 toxicosis.

im working to get better but it's an uphill job.

dont let this take over your life, enjoy things even if just out of pure defiance...except don't OVERDO anything!!!!!

    youre not alone X

      Hi

I was wondering what T3 toxicosis is and how did you get it?

Have you got any thyroid nodules?

I hope that you feel better soon.

Yes,  I was also wondering what T3 toxicosos is please ?  I have thyrotoxicosis which is just another name for hyperthyroidism.

      Best wishes to all

My T 3 s ....thyroid antibodies...are off the scale, meaning my tremors and heart palpitations are increased. Nothing touches it yet, more melds I expect!!!

      Hi Jan

Sorry to hear ths. What made you have your antibodies tested again/.Are u in the UK because drs here are reluctant to check antibodies.

I sit possible to send the results ?

      Thanks.

      Antibodies are the TPO's and TRabs. T3 is Tri-iodothyronine - a hormone.

Sorry what does TRabs stand for. Are there any other anibodies such as anas or ebv involved at all?

In that case I misunderstood! My specialist said I was inundated with thyroid overload poisoning my system with thyroxine and exascerbating my symptoms !

      Toxicosis!

Hi Jan, no I'm not saying you mis-understood.  Toxicosis IS poisoning.  Just saying that the only anti bodies I know of are the TPO's and TRabs - these are the anti bodies diagnosed for me and on my records.  Maybe someone with more knowledge will come along tell us about T3 Toxicosis.

Hi Kylie 30mg or even 20 mg seems high to me lthough im no expert. When I was having bad symptoms I was on 10mg a day. Why dont you ring the endocrinologist's secretary and leave a message about how you feel? Maybe he will tell you to reduce further or at least arrange for a blood test.

I feel tired/grumpy and aching somedays but never know whether that is just my demanding job and life or the hyperthyrodism. Dont wait for the appointment, I have always found consultant's secretaries very helpful and will always pass on messages.

    Good luck

      Thanks oscar

I seen the endo this week who confirmed i do have graves disease .

I thyroid was running a little under active so now been reduced to 10mg carb once a day .

I did start with 40mg first than dropped to 20mg now 10mg .

Sometimes i swear its just the demanding life of work kids and life in general.

But can never tell if its thyroid or just life .
