Fibromyalgia have I got it?

Posted , 10 users are following.

Hello I have had alot of pain and stiffness lately plus elevated blood results. I have been looking up fibromyalgia and have read alot of things that relate to me. I Have had anxiety & health anxiety for a while now, I then started getting terrible headaches, joint pain and stiffness especially in my legs, I get the odd leg pain, also suffered alot with neck pain and stiff neck. I also get back pain and basically just aches and pain in all different places. I suffer also with IBS and was just wondering how I go about getting a diagnosis or help looking into fibromyalgia? Also does fibromyalgia give elevated blood results of inflammation? I am at my wits end the doctors don't know why Im getting these pains an aches nor why my bloods are elevated. Thanks.

    Hi Chelsea,

I'm certainly not a doctor but I have suffered with Fibro since 1987.

Everything you explained with the exception of the blood test is similar to what I've endured. Aches and pain all over the body, anytime, anywhere, IBS both bladder and bowels, headaches, joint stiffness, etc..

I have never heard of a blood test that would confirm Fibro. My guess is that is unrelated. Have you been tested for Lyme? Rheumatoid Arthritis?

You might want to get to the bottom of the elevated blood test and see a Rheumatologist if you suspect Fibro.

Fibro is generally diagnosed with examination of 18 trigger points. As far as I know, there is no organic findings in bloodwork to confirm Fibroymalgia.

    Hope you feel better.

Hello thanks for you reply, Yes I didn't think the elvated bloods would suggest fibro. I have asked my doctor and am waiting on him to refer me to a Rheumatologist when this happens I don't know but they way I am feeling today I will be going back tomorrow. I have not been tested for anything as yet waiting on the GP but will chase it up. Thanks for your reply smile means alot speaking to other people.

Hello Chelsea, there are many conditions that resemble fibro. It was 2 years before they told me it as fibro as the the doctors wanted to rule everything out with specialists and many blood tests and urinalysis. They used to test by certain pressur points on your body but that has become unreliable

Omg our symptoms are identical Chelsea! The only thing is that that inflammation was not high. My Ana is elevated but no lupus. I do have so degenerative spine problems. It sounds like arthritis is what you are dealing with, that's why you prob tested positive for inflammation. My docs are so uncerned about me. Makes me cry. My ibs soooooo bad. Severe constipation and pain on one side. My legs, head, back , chest everything hurts!! I feel like no one is aware of how much I am truly suffering. Do you have constipation with your ibs?? My docs said that I need to find a new doc because there is no more test left to run. Basically they said there's nothing they can do about fibro!! My anxiety is the worst!

No I do not having constipation mine is the totally opposite lol, I know the feeling I just want too be told whats wrong withme so I can get on top of it. Yes Chelsea. Same here! I don't know what to do anymore! I wish here was a doc on this site to talk to. Tears... Today is my 45th bday and my head has been hurting since last night. I do want to chat. Because I need people who understand. Not a depressing thing but who just can relate!

If I can offer one good suggestion to you gys on the IBS issues:

Use Metamucil.. It will help with all that. I have taken metamucil religiously for the past many years and it has cut my IBS issues 85%,,,,

Doctors are still acting indifferent toward us Fibro sufferes because they really don't know how to treat it and most of them are not keeping up with the latest treatement and studies. Find a good rheumy that specializes in fibro and is up to date on the latest studies, etc.

They told Me it's fibro but now what?! The pain omg!!

They drew 25 vials blood for tests before I got any answers. And several doctors. It's a diagnosis of elimination. They have come across some markers that may lead to an actual blood test but it's not available as of yet. You still need to eliminate other illnesses since fibro mimics so many others. And see ano rheumatologist for a diagnosis.

Hiya, apparently the neck ache and back ache are due to my big top jhalf, bad fitting bra and posture + weight. I have previously seen him and he actually made me cry lol but I felt alot better oncwe leaving his room x I have also started too get floaters inmy eye and am due to go to opticians tomorrow this is probably just nothing but I am such a worrier x

      Hi

Sorry, I didnt see the other posts about your posture.

Im glad the doctors are trying to sort you out.

Regarding floaters - I get them really bad with stress.

I wondered, as you are only young - do you have a good relationship with your mum so you could talk to her?

      xx
