Fluoxetine (+ Buproprion) killed my depression

Hi people,

I was active here before, end of last year and beginning of this year. My deep depression began October last year. When I say deep I mean I would kill myself if for some reason I knew that I would feel those feelings for longer.

I started with 20 mg of fluoxetine which didn't do much for the first month. Increased to 40 mg and I started to feel a bit better after two months. I increased again to 60 mg and then it finally get rid of my darkest thoughts. However, I was left with no motivation and sleepy all the time, at which point I was prescribed 300 mg of buproprion to augment my regiment (unfortunately GPs in UK don't pescribe buproprion for depression... you would need a specialist). That is a very effect medication of the kind of depression that makes you sleepy, feel like not doing anything, vegetating.

The above regiment (60 mg of fluoxetine + 300 mg of buproprion) killed my depression. I would say 100% off depression.

Fast forward 26th of July and I'm now on only 20 mg of fluoxetine + 150 mg of buproprion with no symptoms whatsover of depression.

This is my short story of depression and I would like to share with you because this forum helped me so much. Don't lose hope because depression can be defeated.

    Hi,

Did you experience genital anesthesia, impotence or asexuality during the treatment?

    Hi Alex,

No, I didn't. But I had experienced sexual problems before when I was using paroxetine (another SSRI) for anxiety. Also, buproprion is known to help with sexual issues caused by SSRI. So if fluoxetine is causing anything in this deparment, I'm sure buproprion is counteracting because I'm happy with this.

    Best,

Thank you for sharing Danilo! I am suffering from major depression and just started a low dose of Prozac (20mg). Will definitive look into Bupropion if need be. Glad you're well now, cheers!
