I just wanted yo updateceveryone. I talked to my surgeon's assistant by phone today. She said the pain I am experiencing is normal and is to be expected. She said it just means the nerves are growing back. She said it can take up to 6 months for the incision to completely heal. She said to give it about 2 more months and if it is bothering me then I should call back or if it gets worse.

That is scary to hear they say it is normal. My doctor doesn't seem to think it is at my stage of recovery, but it has not been 3 months quite yet (he specialises in this area) and is why he has referred me for nerve block, but who knows wouldn't it be wonderful for it to settle down on it's own (a miracle). Some people have this surgery and no problems, others have no end of pain and complications. I was in agony yesterday, but after a better nights rest it has been bearable so far today, still achy just doing the groceries. It can flare up bad with a lot of activity. So another nerve block in 3 weeks and I will see my surgeon for follow up on September 1. Nerve damage/entrapment after inguinal hernia repair seems to be a very tricky problem to identify (which nerve or nerves involved) and treat. Good luck to anyone going through what we are and fingers crossed it settles on it's own. Another surgery scares me. When do you see your surgeon next?

According to my surgeon's assistant I don't need to go back to see my surgeon unless the pain doesn't go away by October or it gets worse. Let's hope she is right and it's just the nerves healing and nothing more serious. Good luck to you too. I hope they can figure out what is wrong so you don't have to be in any more pain also.

Hello, I saw my surgeon today because my pain has been unbearable. Been told my last resort is triple neurectomy and he wants to operate on 15 Aug. I also went for an earlier GF nerve block this afternoon because of this pain, but not so sure it really helped. I saw a different radiologist this time. Very worried about my future, but will go through with another op if it can be fixed. He said there is 90 percent chance it will fix it.

Can only have trust in my surgeon and take the chance. He seems confident. I want my life back, my husband wants his wife back and my daughters want their mum back. I've had enough, but through all of this I have tried my best to keep their routine as normal as possible. I have beautiful kids. He is the only person qualified and willing to take on the tough cases in Australia or he said Dr Peterson is Las Vegas, USA. They know each other. How are you feeling??
