    Hi Gemma

It very much depends what your having the foot surgery for.

I had foot surgery about 2 years ago now, this was following being in a full contact cast for nearly 2 years before the op. I had Charcot Arthropathy (crumbling of the bones in the foot) all linked to diatetes. I had a lot of metal work put into my foot/ankle, this was all kept in place with another full contact cast for another 18 months.

Also due to the diabetes the healing process can be a very long time. I am sure your specialist will advise you of this. Anyway let us know how you get on, i am sure all will be ok. biggrin

Hello there. First, I hope you have had tests done to ensure that it is a MN  or had a second opinion (I learned the hard way that podiatrists are notorious for diagnosing  things like MN and recommending surgery w/o doing the proper tests). Second, it depend on you and the kind of MN sugery you are having. Are you having the MN nerve portion completely removed? If so, the 4-5 weeks off work is pretty accurate. It may be more than 10 days of non-weight bearing though. I wish you luck and a speedy recovery!

Don't be nervous I had two locals this year and your talking to a person who is deadly scared of needles. It honestly was a breeze both times and they give you a bit of a something in the IV before the do the local so you are happy and dopy. You will be fine smile

Hey Gemma, i am 6 weeks post op from MN surgery, I was no weight bearing for 1 week, but i could walk on the heel to go to bathroom. 4 weeks off work I have now been back to work 1 1/2 weeks. I had the nerve removed, I no longer have pain i the ball of my foot or the burning. I do have numbing sensations. I wish you luck, and if you trust your dr its all good.

Hi Jean. Overall are you better or worse than you were pre op? I am 7 weeks post op from having 2 MNs removed and struggling. Pain in the ball of foot, and a tight, stiff feeling and almost like pressure across the top of foot. Also very numb over a large area. Still having lots of physiotherapy but no real improvement. I am feeling distraught at the possibility that this is it and it will not get better. What's your experience ?

Did you get crutches when you were non weight bearing? I feel better than what I was before just going to be strange.
