Gallbladder after removal

Hi all, I had my gallbladder removed now nearly 16 months ago and every now and again, mainly at night get colic pain around the chest area it has been in the past months when I had to have a bowel movement, but last night when I laid down in bed I could feel it cominging on, I took some colanticon gel but it still lasted about an hour and a half and kept me awake, I suffer from IBS as well and although its not as bad as the colic pain I had before the gallbladder removal, its still uncomfortable enough for me to get up and take the medicine, I had had this about 4 or 5 times now since the op, I thought they might have left a stone in but a week aftr the op I spoke to the doctor and she told me they check the bile duck before they do the op and this was clear, also about 4 weeks before having it I had a big scan to make sure there were not any stones in the bile duck and this was clear, I bought some Gaviscon liquid, just the normal strength as a pharmacist told me to try this as they thought it was acid reflux.  can anyone help or suggest anything, I have lots of cramp pains with the IBS as well and lots of wind and bloating, thanks Stella

Stella do you think maybe it's the IBS that can be more of an issue now , like foods etc the cause ,find hot water bottle helps to settle the gripes .

Hope you find some good answers ,miserable what you've been through .

Something that'd helped my stomach pain was a medication called carafate. It coats your stomach, I got it in the pill form, I wish it was the liquid though. I had my gallbladder out in 2006 and my stomach was fine untill December 2015. I'm taking phenegren for nausea, prevacid to prevent acid, and zantac for dealing with heartburn on the spot. I don't know what's wrong with me. I have bad pain under my ribs on the right. Before I had my gallbladder out I drank a lot of malox, it was the only thing that would help

Hi thanks for your reply not heard of any of these medicines, apart from Zantac, are they from the doctor or can they be bought in UK, thanks Stella

I found this https://patient.info/medicine/sucralfate-for-ulcers-antepsin that gives a good description of carafate/sucralfate/antepsin I also found this site for people in the UK to buy it Buy Sucralfate Oral Suspension Sugar Free 1 gram/5 ml | 1 | £0.00 per ml

Someone posted on here that you need to take supplements I've never heard that and I've worked as a Medical Assistant, certified nursing assistant, and had my gallbladder out. People don't need a gallbladder. We no longer need it because our eating habits are different than they used to be. One thing that will change is after eating a fatty meal it will go straight through you and cause pain. I've never had it happen to me but everyone in my family that's had their gallbladder out has had that issue.

I'm not against supplements, I just dont think need is the right word. I feel that a healthy balanced diet with low fat works better. Juicing is a great choice as long as you are drinking all of the veggie and fruit. And also have a guide so you are getting all your nutrients. With supplements we excrete most of it out in our waste. People without gallbladders have trouble absorbing vitamin k, d,a,e. They also have trouble digesting good fats. I've managed a chiropractor clinic and worked in medical clinics. I believe strongly in Eastern and Western medicines. We need to be healed not just have a bandaid put over our health issue.

Hey...Please don't talk to me about band aids loool I was left for dead by every specialist...Dr. ...etc, you like them will never know what can happen to one...I have never taken a band aid in my life lool..I even did a year in agony with just about every symptom one could think of...and others most wouldn't have a clue about or ever see in there life time😳... with not ONE bandaid lol, not one drug etc...

I do not believe in anything but finding root causes, if I haven't of, I would be of been dead long ago

To be Healed...yes I know that word very well...I ganrantee you... no one has any idea what time and effort I put in to healing my body

I got teeth for a reason so I like to chew my food...

...People without gallbladders have trouble absorbing vitamin k, d,a,e....doesnt everyone know that

They also have trouble digesting good fats.........of course they do.....so let's hope they change the laws soon then 😉....and you missed absorbing it by the way....

...With supplements we excrete most of it out in our waste..

depends what you are on about...I didn't state what supps I was talking about...belive you me, if we are on about the same supps.....and if you was right I wouldn't be sitting here writing I would be dead 😇

Unfortunately no matter what everyone thinks they can tell me, it only shows me they couldn't of saved me so is totally irrelevant to me no matter what expert trained them, no matter where they worked or for how long etc....specialists laughed in my face...now I laugh in theirs 😄

....Phenergan is a 1st generation anti histamine lol, 1st for a good reason 👺

how many drugs you taking. ...bandaids that mask symptoms won't make you better, adressing your root courses will then eating a diet for cellular health will see one live a longer happier life 😮I wouldn't of took drugs for what I had ...I took my symptoms as a sign my body wasn't functioning right and so found root causes and addressed them

      Medicine = drugs

I wasn't trying to offend you any way. You seem pretty angry, I'm sorry that you've had a hard time. I was just stating I've never heard anyone say they needed to take supplements because they no longer had a gallbladder.

I know about pain, mental and physical. I'm 33 and I have had 18 surgeries. I've had chronic kidney stones, I've tried supplements, diet change, and medications. Still I sit here with 10 in my kidney. I'm also riddled with clots in my lungs and legs, this is my 6th episode. I had to have a sugery while I was pregnant with my youngest. I do unfortunately know a lot about health problems. I have bad veins, so if the hospital needs to put a IV in me, I get to have them drill into my bone to put fluid into my bone marrow. This is just a portion of my health struggles. I have a brother who has downs syndrome, he was born blue. He wasn't supposed to live more than a week, age 4 open heart surgery and today I have a 35 year old healthy brother with a good heart. Supplements wouldn't have helped his heart problem. I worked with the mentally and physically disabled since I was 14. A lot of them wouldnt be alive without modern medicine, the ones who have a mental affliction like schizophrenia rely on meds, i dont think a supplement will fix thier problem. Everyone finds what works for them either it be modern medicine, Eastern medicine, or prayer etc. To each their own. Everyone is unique and special and has to find the right balance in their life. Nobody is better than someone else because of their beliefs.

Also my bf of 2 years is very against medications, but even he has realized sometimes medicine is needed. My father took mass supplements for 30 years today he has Parkinson's, post polio, and dementia. So now he's doing modern medicine.

So what exact ibs symptoms you have

One would need to know also if it is high stomach acid and not low stomach acid causing reflux...most actually have low not high

Was you aware food intolerances is sometimes a cause for gallbladder problems. ..so could you of had some before even having gallbladder removed

Was you aware gallbladder plays a part in the digestive process

And was you aware once removed one will need certain supplements x

Hi thanks for your comments I don't know what kind of stomach acid I have, it wasn't a food intolerance that caused the gallstones, just one of those things, I know that gallbladder plays a part in digestion, it breaks up the fat we eat amongst other things, but I had no choice to have it out as it was not detected the first bout I had many years ago, and many times after that, unfortunately it was full of stones and I had no choice as they told me it was in danger of errupting and I know someone that this happened to and they died before they could have this done with keep putting it off.  I was not adviced what supplements to take after the removal, so if you have advice on this, please could you tell me, I have taken digestive enzymes previously and gave these up as they did not do anything, thanks for your reply, Stella

I posted a link to testing stomach acid levels but it's under moderation. Look up baking soda test for high or low stomach acid or beet urine test.

    Good luck to you.
