Got a bumpy feeling in my throat

Hey everyone. For the last 3 or 4 days, i feel as if i've got a little ball or something stuck or trying to block my throat during swallowing. There's also a little bump just in the Hyoid Bone area, in the very center, over the thyroid cartillage. It feels solid, doesn't move or slide anywhere when i touch, but it hurts a bit, feels sensitive to moderate force touching.

I didn't have any outer force or didnt involve any fights or something that would hurt that area and make that area swallow. While eating or drinking, i actually barely feel anything, but during routine swallowing of saliva, it feels like as if there's a slight contraction there or someone pushing down tenderly.

What would that be ?

That is similar to what happened to me when I first knew there was something wrong.  Every now and again I just couldn't swallow because it felt line I had a huge blockage.  It was embarrassing and I had to run from the table until it subsided. That was the start of my Achalasia

      Thanks for the answer.

I can actually swallow without any trouble, and in fact i can eat and drink without having any trouble. It only gives a feeling of a little contraction when i'm not eating or drinking anything, while swallowing saliva. I've looked the symptoms of Achalasia but none of them seem to fit smile

Is it still there or you've got over it ?

I got over it after operation but it was very severe.

It could be globus: the cricopharyngeal muscle tightening or spasming in an attempt to reduce extra-oesophageal reflux?

Yes I remember them telling me it was globus which is usually caused by stress

May be actually, because when i wake up in the morning, i feel a slight harsh feeling on my throat, not sure if it's tonsils or reflux. I have a problematic history with my gastrointestinal system actually, but never had a serious reflux problem. I'll try antiacids for a while to see if it'd solve this. Other than that, shall i get any muscle-relaxatives ?

Antacids won't reduce the reflux, they'll just make it less damaging.

Muscle relaxants may work or they could make the reflux easier and you may get problems with aspiration -  but see what your doctor advises.

Hmm. What about PPI's ? Dad using them for a long time for hyperacidity, and i've used them for a while as well, which actually helped.

PPIs are excellent at reducing acid. For some people, the reduction of acid helps reduce reflux. If they have helped before, that may be a possibility to discuss with your doctor.

It does not sound like achalsia if you can swallow and your food passes in to your stomach OK, but the only one who can really tell you about this tender bump is a doctor, perhaps an ear nose and throat specialist.

Today it seems (and feels) to relieved a bit, compared to previous days. It's probably a muscle contraction because the "lumpy" feeling seemed two-sided, at first it was a tad off-centered to right side (1cm maybe), but yesterday it was in the same region but a bit left side of the center this time. Such Wanderer lump it is smile

Also i've got a PPI last night, maybe it helped to suppress the reflux during night. I'll use it for a week.
