Headache for ages!

Can someone please enlighten me. I have already posted my issues a few months before but anyway. I am 22 years of age I suffer from acid reflux and heartburn (diagnosed).

Main concern, My headaches started for a while now, and have recently been getting really bad. I have been off work for 4 months and recently started going back thinking it would help me, but it hasnt. I have had a CT scan and a MRI (waiting on results) CT scan came back fine. I have seen a neurologist and she said "I am fine" and referred me back to my GP.

Honestly speaking, I sleep with a really bad headache, which is all over my head with dizziness, nausea and a lazy like feel. I wake up with one and spend the day with one. It never dissapears I have been on many medication and had no difference or effect.

Proponolol - 80mg

Proponolol - 40mg

Proponolol - 20mg

Tradamol - 40mg

Co-Dydramol 500/10mg

Codeine - 15mg

Amitriptyline - 10mg

Zomig - 5g

I have tried all above with no luck.

Any idea guys?

Hello has456, my name is Jennifer and I have been suffering from headaches for over five years.  I usually get one just about every day at one point or another.  I take Motrin 800, Advil, and drink plenty of water.  Stay away from chemicals such as MSG, which is in some chinese food, salad dressings and potato chips.  At times I get a certain kind of headache that does not respond to the meds I mentioned above.  I don't know why your Neuro referred you back to your GP.  Neuros usually treat chronic headache and migraine.  I stopped suffering when I was introduced to the Triptan medications, however, I see that you have tried Zomig.  Ask you doctor for Relpax or Emerge.  Both are in the same category as Zomig, but they all work differenty for different people.  Also, make sure your headaches are not coming from your neck.  This pain can radiate to your head and cause headaches also...... GOOD LUCK and be well

Hi Jennifer, Sorry for the late reply, I had my MRI scan a few weeks ago now and have been called back to the neuro on the 28th of this month. I am now taking topiramate 25mg and still no help. My GP said he tried everything he could and also said my neuro had the last say he cant do anything, the topiramate is the last try he said so far it is not good. But, lets see what happens when I go and see what the neuro says. I did ring to say why I was called in but they had no idea. But hey, it is with another neuro not the one I saw thank god for that! good luck to u too smile x

Hi I've also suffered with severe headaches for 3 yrs after having labyrinthitis for 2 yrs. I had many mri scan's then referred to a specialist up london where inner ear testing was performed over 4 hrs. I was diagnosed with Mav Migraine Associated Vertigo. I've been on many prevention meds over the 3 yrs and now I'm slot better. My dizziness has gone as I had Vrt Vestibular Rehabilitation Training up London and my headaches are under control with Candestartan. I still get the headaches every single day but there controlled with meds now. Ask your gp about this as it's so so common x

Michelle hi, Bless you glad you got it diagnosed. did you have any ear issues? I may ask for this when I see my neurologist. Just to confirm what shall I ask my GP and/or neurologist? I dont tend to take pain killers, like you said they tend to make headaches worse my GP even said this. xx

Hi no I had no inner ear problems at all but as I said all my headaches dizziness started straight after me having labyrinthitis which is very common apparently. Ask your gp if you can be referred to a Neurotoligist, they specialist in all inner ear illnesses; dizziness etc. I found them so much better then a Neaurosurgery. I got fob off twice saying there's nothing wrong,:but in fact I was suffering with Vestibular Migraines . Is your dizziness there all the time ? Have u any other symptoms apart from the headaches abd dizziness ?

hi Michelle, I have been refferred to a neurologist, they referred me back to my GP!!!! but but I am seeing a different neurologist for a follow up on the 29th of this month. My dizziness comes when my headache is worse, other symtoms are nausea, loss of appetitie, loss of sensation, I would sometimes fall when walking if that makes sence.

it really sounds like Migraine Associated Vertigo or Vestibular Migraine. As your headaches arnt under control your dizziness will always be there till you get on prevention meds to control and stable your headaches. Do you have light Sensitive to and visual problems ?

nope, absolute no issue to light what so ever. head is not hurting on one side it is always all over my head.

Mines the same all over. Also get painful neck shoukders. Was up london to for my appt as starting nerve block injections in 2 wks. The specialist said painful neck shoukders is always due to heafaches migraines.

Michelle, just seen a neurologist. he said its tension type headaches and to stop taking medications and try theraphy such as massages yoga etc.

Can i just say. Codeine base pain relief will make any headache worse. Your headache will rebound making you get rebound headaches on top off the headaches u have. Abd the dose off prevention meds u have tried are very low, its not enough to control chronic headaches and they take up to 6 wks to work also if they are going to work.
