i had similar problem with good leg giving way on me and found it impossible to use crutches for this reason. I hired a elbow or gutter walker. They are the same height as your chest and your forearms go along a padded gutter and you wrap your hands around an upright hand grip. As they are on four wheels you can slide along or hop with the good leg but keep yourself upright if the leg gives way. The other thing I used extensively was a wheelchair. I am still using my elbow crutches at 16 weeks not because I need them as I am fwb but more as props in case the good leg starts to fail me. Physiotherapist said not a bad idea to use them in crowds so people give you more consideration. My biggest fear is falling again! Good luck and speedy recovery!

Mine told me to:-
Put foot on bathroom scales with boot on and crutches. Make sure you have hood shoe with sturdy sole on other foot. Nothing to slip or trip on. VERY lightlyvlunge forward to you have made a slight weight change on scales. Even a couple of pounds or a kg. Go back to upright no weight baring. Do a couple of times. A couple of times a day.
Rest broken foot on ground for a few minutes while you sit. Rest up.
Slow process to start.
Increase weight on scales by a bit each week. I got up to 1_stone in 2 weeks, then went up by a stone a week approx. Rest with foot up. Wear boot.
See Physio. Good luck

Wore it when I left the house for extra protection and to help warn others to keep away.
Now I don't use it, over 4 months post surgery. But I'm not chucking it.
I'm not sure what I told you but my good keg gas a bakers cyst. Was so bad 3 weeks ago couldn't bend it or straighten it. Specialist gave me cortisone jab in knee. Whoa. Hurt , but seems to have helped despite getting worse for a week.
Ask your Physio for a plan . small amount if exercises that are obtainable to do. My Physio has been visiting my husband and I . My husband broke his scaphoid. Now he goes 35 km to a high intensity Physio.
Keep in touch.

Poor you. Make yourself get up briefly. Easy to get down if meds aren't taken on time, no sunshine, exercise of any kind. Also need good food and water.
Can't remember if you have a knee scooter or not.
A little better than none.
