Heamaplegic migraines

Anyone else in the same boat?

Just back from an appointment with an agency neurologist. I had my appointment brought forward as an urgent by accident and emergency as I have been having an increase in attacks of my migraines and have been feeling unwell and have a very fuzzy head! When I went in neurologist didn't know why I was there and then told me that he was changing my diagnosis to non epileptic seizures. I have never had a seizure in my life and according to the doctors I have seen before it is definitely a rare migraine I have. I have no idea what to do now. The doctor is talking about telling my gp to take me off my migraine prevention meds. I'm off work and my social life is greatly affected and when I googled these type of seizures I don't have any of the symptoms whatsoever. I'm really at my wits end!

    Hi Laura,

Yes I get HM and last year it was happening every other week and was admitted on every occasion.

You need some proper treatment and also if you can de stress your life.  This will make a huge difference.

I take Flunarizine and I have Botox, bioth of which have been amazing.

I have also destressed my life and things are a lot better this year.

Good luck Laura, keep in touch to let us know how you are getting on.

    Take care and best wishes

Thanks for replying. I'll take note of what you suggested. I've been trying to relax more and was suggested to try regular exercising. Which I have but that has only been a few weeks so hopefully will begin to help. I will suggest the botox and other drugs to my doctors to see what they can look into it. I've been googling and found some private specialist's who have interests in HM if I don't get anywhere with my gp I might need to look into this.

      Thanks for your help!

If you can get to London Laura, the national neurological hospital in queens square is where I go and see the country's headache specilist dr matahru.  He prescribes my flunarizine and does the botox.

      Hope this helps
