Hello all.                  As you know I have been having some problems that I have been talking about to some of you and my urologist.  Well I saw him today.  He told me that I have Chronic Prostatitis which you can get rid of or can be handled .  Well no pain right now. Sometimes it feels like someone is pulling my testicle and will not let go.  It hurt like hell.  My prostate is ok do not feel like i'm sitting on a ball.  You can take a pill for prostatitis but there are many and you don't know which one will help.  He want me to try Prostate PQ.  I have not taking any yet have to read up on it..  Have anyone out there try this yet please let me know.  I was also concerned about the thin stream.  He told me I am not drinking enough water so there is not enough pressure to make it bigger.  I drink 4 bottles he told me that is not enough  I should be drinking at least 8 bottles a day.  I was also told when I have a episode because the prostate will be inflamed no sex of any kind.  Until the prostate goes down.   All the test that I had came back good so all is ok.   Well I will do what he wants for now.  I trust him and we will see.  I see him in 4 months.  But if I have any problems I can see him on a moments notice Take care all.  And good health  Ken

Have just come out of hospital today after a week of Intravenous injections of antibiotics after raging urine infections for 2.5 years following Sepsis and having Chronic Prostatitis which was stopping urine flow again after a TURP 14 months ago and terrible pain in testicles. Feeling the best I have for years just now, so fingers crossed. A/B was Meropanem if anyone has heard of it.

Was it the sepsis or repeated urine infections that prompted the hosptilization and IV antibiotics? What did they have you try before? It's great that you're feeling good now. I sometimes feel that the antibiotics I've taken never quite do a 100% job.

Jim,    It was Sepsis that led to the urine infections, but my Dr was testing my urine sample with dipsticks and on many occasions no infection was found, but I still felt unwell. I was informed that the NHS to save money was requesting Drs to send as few samples as possible for culture. It appeared that some staff at the surgery were sending samples which were positive though and I would get Pivmicillan or Nitrofurantoin often for a month at a time recommended. I was slowly getting worse and asked a Consultant if anything could be done and he suggested a referral to the Infectious Diseases Dept who were not keen to know, but a week ago I could not pass water and they could not get a catheter in and prior to that could not do self catheterization so I was admitted to the Urology ward and the Consultant insisted that the Microbiologists got involved which resulted in what I was told an unusual A/B being used.   The moral may be to ensure all urine samples are cultured if you know you feel unwell, and question your Dr to see if your samples have been cultured.  There are also some A/B,s that can only be given in hospital as the side effects are critical without constant monitoring.

I am glad they went the extra mile with you. Do you know what the specific oganism was they treated you for? Did it come up on a normal culture or did they have to do any special staining, etc? I keep reading that some bacteria fly under the radar or normal cultures but when I point that out to my urologist, he just shakes his head. But come to think of it he did give e the name of an infectious disease specialist one time. I guess they are the ones that go the extra mile.

I am afraid I do not know what the organism was or how the culture was done, only the Urology charge nurse said the Antibiotic used was a new one to him. In future talks with the Consultant I will try to find out more. My concern is what damage may have been done to me in 2.5 years that could have been rectified earlier by better involvement of Microbioligists.

I had Sepsis in 2014. Blood work white cells was over 25,000. I got it from 2 things which was.  I have a kidney infection ( had 7 that year )  was giving antibiotics for the infection.  Sometime in that 2 weeks I got food poisoning.  It went through my whole body.  The doctor said that Iait my blood for at least 6 weeks.  Was on I'vs for 6 days and went home with a port.  Had 11 more at home.  It was a mess.  nIopI have to ggo through that again.  The only good thing that came out of it was I found my urologist.  Hope things get better for you..  Ken

    Hi Ken,

What size bottles are you talking about? 64 oz of fluid (water, juice, coffee, etc) should be adequate hydration in addition to the water contained in our food. Maybe more to replace fluids lost through strenuous exercise. As to the "thin stream", as long as you're not retaining in your bladder, and not dehyrated, what's the difference if your stream is thin or a fire hydrant? Part of it may be bladder pressure,  but part can also be obstruction, but again I don't see a health problem here.

I'm also curious about the Prostate PQ. Do let us know if you try it, and good luck with the prostatitis. I've found sitz baths help FWIW.

Hey Jim.   16.9 OZ  I drink 4 a day I was told that I have to drink at least 8 a day.  I can have grape juice.  No other kind.  He gave me a list of what I can and cannot eat and drink.  Bladder friendly food and drinks.  There are alot of things on the list he gave me that my other doctor gave me.  I have a alcer.  So I can't have any thing with acid or citrus there a bunch .  8 pages  I have to watch.  I never know there was so much that would could irrate the bladder.  All my other stuff is fine and he feel if I drink more I will have more pressure.  This Prostate PQ is suppose to promote pelvic and prostate health and help with the body anti-inflammatory response.  And the pain from the prostatitis.  So I will do what he what's.  I started the pill today.  He gave me some samples and after I done with them I have to call the company.  Take care  and I will let you know later  Ken

      Hi Ken,

That's over a gallon a day. Twice the daily recommended fluid intake. Not saying it won't help, but since it's so much more than what is usually recommended, I would hope for the best but listen to your body (and bladder). And probably not a bad idea to get your retention checked whle on the increased fluid intake.  Personally, if I drank a gallon a day, pretty sure I would go into acute urinary retention because my bladder, while rehabbed to a degree, is probably not strong enough to handle that much fluid.

What other foods/beverages did he suggest or ask you to omit? Coffee? Alcohol?

Lately, I stopped coffee as an experiment, and while too early to tell, seems to have reduced my periodic episodes of dysuria (pain) when I start to urinate on a very full bladder. Too bad because I think coffee has other bladder benefits as well as overall health benefits. Maybe, down the road, I will find a sweet spot with one or two cups instead of the 4 or 5 I've been having.

I don't think I will be drinking that much water.  I can have  Grape juice.  No coffee,  tea, soda, milk, no citrus, kool aid,  energy drinks the list goes on.  I never know there was so much to mess up the bladder.  I will stop if I feel it is a problem  I took 2 pills yesterday and 1 today.  Only went 3 time so far.  No pain which I'm happy about.  So I will keep it up.  I am writing everything done so I can take it with me to the doctor.  If I have a problem  can see him anytime.  I think he is just trying to get me to drink more to get more in the bladder so I can go better.  Had ultrsound yesterday it was emnpty.  So that is good.  I will see how it goes today will be moving around and I will be seating for 7 hours.  Take care I'm happy everything is going good with you..Ken

Drinking 128oz of grape juice every day, after a short while you’ll weigh 400# and have so many other problems you won’t worry about your bladder.  If you don’t like the taste of water or just find it hard to drink that much water, why not dilute the grape juice to 1 part grape and 10 parts water.  Grape juice has a pretty powerful flavor.  I don’t understand why the grape juice has to be undiluted.

Thanks Harvey.  I will never do that I have a couple of glasses a day with alot of ice and it dilutes with the ice.  Drink 3 bottles of water.  I love sweet tea and other juices but it's on the list so I can't.  I will never go up to 400 pounds.  The most I was was 325 never again.  Size 3X shirt and 48 pants.  Over the years I have slimed down.  The lasr few years I have been in the hospital about 15 times for many reason. From my suger, high blood,  a-fib, gall bladder surgery  and for my prostate problem.  I have had most of it all fix and I want to stay that way. I watch what I eat and I feel great.  Now I am down to 198 size XL shirt and a 36 pants.  After I got the ok from my heart doctor after the a-fib surgery I waited till the first of the year and started going to the gym I wish you all well and please never rush into a procedure or let a doctor or insurance tell you what to do Take care Ken
