15 non stop Meniere's attacks. I'm going to a specialist to Maryland University and he has me on diazide fluid pills. I went the prednisone oral rte and then 2 injections of steroids to the inner esr.
No luck.....so I ,with my doc decided to to the Gentamicin injection rte. He said I'd have done"balance" issues for a few days when meds kicked in.
We'll it kicked in all right!
It's been a week now and I can't walk rotor bumping into walls, can concentrate and even my vision is either blurred or double vision especialy when I move my head in different directions.
My question is, if you've had this treatment, what we're your results afterwards? I cannot live like this.
It's depressing and I feel even more of an invalid more so than before when I'd get a couple days breaks here and there.

Def. Diagnosed with Meniere's.
Since I last wrote in to forum, u called my specialist. I was laying on my back waiting to get better.
Oh was I wrong! He said absolutely not! You get moving and try to continue doing things , walking, vestibular therapy, living a normal life the best you can and it would come back dlowly.
Almost like having a mild stroke. Have to teach myself balance, ,head and eye movement, etc. I'm working off only one side of bal.signals being sent to brain....
It's coming back. Somethings still hard but each day gets better.
And no Meniere's attacks....knock on wood!
A great support group of friends!

So sorry Cheryl. I haven't had the shot but I have had attack after attack. So sorry you are having these issues . I have several folks I know that have had some side effects like that to the shot. But they should sub side soon and you will get some relief. Hopefully your doctor is giving you some valum and Anti dizzy medicine to get through this.

Hi Cheryl,
Dont' know how I missed your post the first time around, but I just read it today. I hope that by now, you're feeling much better!
When I was given the option of gentamycin, my otolaryngologist (at Loyola in IL) told me that I'd probably experience increased vertigo, nausea and imbalance for about a month after the injection. I'd been so sick for so long, I just couldn't deal with it, so I opted to continue to wait a little longer to see if the steroids would kick in. Ultimately they did, and I'm grateful. However, my doctor has several patients who drive several hours every six months to get their gentamycin injections - they swear by them and insist the duration of effectiveness is well worth the initial side effects. So, I know that there are some very happy gentamycin users out there. I hope that you will eventually be happy with your treatment, too!!!
Take good care,
J-
