Hiatus hernia

Well I have been really ill for four months which started with some bloating and after a week bang I was having attacks of dizzyness and vometing and stomach pain from this I was admitted to hospital and was told I had vertigo. I was referred to a vestibular specialist who advise I had no vestibula issue and then passed onto a neurologist, while waiting for this appointment my standard of life has gone from bad to worse being sick everyday, chest pains, back pains, extreme dizzyness and feelings of adrenaline which has lead to me having anxiety over the who issue. After being rushed into hospital I finally got referred to a doctor who said he would through a blanket over me to find the problem and 3 days ago I had an endoscope and was advised I have a 4cm sliding hiatus hernia. I am waiting to have an ecg and a full body ct scan which happens in a few days time but I feel this might be the root of my issue, I am only 33 and up until becoming ill I trained Brailian Jiu Jitsu 5 days a week double sessions and had a really good family life and want to know will I be able to get back point without surgery or would it be needed to get back to such physical activity?.

feel I may have left some things out but in all honesty the last four months have been a roller coaster and at times I thought I was having a heart attack any help  would be appreciated.

When I initially began having symptoms, I went to my regular doctor and told him that it felt as though I was having a heart attack.   He knew that I had a hiatal hernia, but didn't know how large it was.   So, he sent me for some tests.   Had an EKG, an echocardiogram (don't know if I spelled that correctly, and an endoscopic test.   Also, had an upper GI.    Found out that my hernia was quite large and that surgery was the only option.   Am eating a wee bit better now, but must have all of my food in the mushy variety, no chunks.    Also, must chew my food very well.   Tried to eat some macaroni yesterday and got a few pieces "stuck."

Ruth that sounds horrible so would your advise be to not have the op because I have seen some people say they have had the op and gone back to a normal life?

Well, I don't know what advice to give you.  Right now I am not back to normal yet.    Am uncertain just how long it will take.   I am trying to be patient with the pain and dietary adjustments, but it has been difficult.   But I am told that I will feel much better later on.
