HS and no one understands

I am so happy to have found a forum for HS. I've struggled and struggled for years and was diagnosed only two years ago. I've spend hours picking at blackheads on my breasts and thighs thinking it was all just because I have acne. I'm 33 years old and now I'm getting painful lumps under my breasts, on my butt, on my thighs and in my stretch marks from my pregnancy. No one understands. My husband says "oh the sweat gland thing?" .... I wish it was that simple. I've tried acne wash, removing with tools, popping with pins and nothing works. I'm so tired and just want to know I'm not alone in this. I currently have a bad bump under my left breast so I put a pin in it and was able to drain some funk. I'm just so sad and disgusted. I'm an upbeat person but I'm silently suffering and could use a friend that understands. I know no one else with this condition and any pointers would be helpful. Thank you.

    Hi Meg,

There are hundreds of thousands of people suffering with hs, you are not alone. I am not going into details as the web is full of it, but what I've found works for me is normal zinc pills, the cheap ones . I take a 70 mg zinc pill every day . For some people it does not work, . The only other way I found to get rid of HS is to go on a paleo diet that includes cutting out nightshades. For me its easier just to pop a zinc pill every day, the paleo lifestyle is great if you can stay with it, and as a bonus you will loose weight. There is some side effects to using zinc pills, it can cause a copper deficiency, but after using it for more than a year and a half I had no side effects. Anyways, hope you get well soon.

Hi you need to go to the doctors and get a referral to a dermatologist.  Antibiotics might help with the flares - they help me.  DO NOT stick pins or anything in them as you could worsen the infection and cause them to spread.

The sooner you get this treated properly the better as over time the infections will get more and deeper thus damaging the lower levels of your skin.   Eventually tracts will form which will enable the infection to travel round your body.

Seek professional help.   Doctors are pretty useless at it and some have never even heard of it so all they will do is give you ab's (which have their uses).  You need a dermatologist.  x

I made an appointment with a specialist for February. I'm so embarrassed but I guess I have to suck it up and just go.

Doxycycline is my lifesaver. I avoid cow's milk and treat nasal allergies immediately I can guarantee a flare-up if I sneeze 10-15 times.  I am sorry you are having to go through this.  From what I have learned, what works is a very individual thing and it takes time to figure out your formula.
