Hello everyone
I am fairly new here ....I am 4 weeks today post op and I have really had a time of it...surgery went very well....Doctor and nurses were amazing...However I lost some blood during surgery and had to have a blood transfusion.I was kept in bed for 3 days my platlets were low and my blood pressure crashed.(I am usually on the high side but controled) I had a reaction to the bandaging it was on for 2 days and blistered when the nurse removed it the top of the blisters came off....very painful...and they got infected ...the bandage was huge....what a friggin mess...on the forth day they had me up walking and doing stairs in the morning ....was realeased in the afternoon...I came home and was feeling really good and on the 3rd day I woke at 3:30 am vomiting with the flu .....could not even lift my head off the bed ,,,a really good friend my sister in-law and brother force fed me watermellon and ensure...thank god for them...now I am up doing my exercises and feeling good ...staples out etc....went for a both last week and fell in the tub....my brilliant boyfriend said what did you do that for...(not next time I will come sit while you bath)...Now I am terrified that I may how done damage to my hip...my groin was a little sore bt now is keeping mr awake nights...I was also taking short jonts to the deck without my cane and now have to use it all the time...I see my surgeon on Thursday and am so afraid of bad news....I was so excited to have this surgery done but now wish I never did can someone give me some good news for a change...sorry for such a long post .
Brighest Blessings

Sounds like ups and downs which is the pattern.....Two steps forward and one back.
If you had dislocated I really think you would be in excruciating pain and would know it...so un likely but wish you well for check up.
I was told dislocation very unlikely but sure be careful...and my physio said no baths for 6 weeks for me. Love and sunshine

My blood pressure dropped like a stone too, usually very high and took a while to get back up.
It is not very easy to dislocate your hip and if you did, you would be carted off to hospital. In other words, if you had dislocated it, you would know it!!!!!!!!!!!
You will find yourself getting better quickly now, the worst is over. Pity you haven't a walk in shower, the bath business is a real trial.
brightest blessings to you too sunshine....................

at 3-4 weeks we all have a tendency to do more and expect too much of ourselves .. take your pain meds - there is no gain in having pain with THR ... no shame in using cane (I still do at 16 weeks post-op when outside) -
ask your surgeon if an xray can be taken -
take it easy and be very gentle with your self - you are doing great ...
warm hug,

Sounds like you have been through the mill!
However, we all have blips of one sort or another - glad you had support from your relatives when you were sick
Just the action of vomiting would have caused you hip pain - I know if I cough it hurts!
i don't think you have done major damage or you would know about it
I don't know whether the bath is such a good thing- I am nearly 4 weeks post op and was told not to have a bath till I get clearance from surgeon when I see him next
Do be careful it is so easy to slip or miss your footing
Glad you are feeling better - lots of friendly people on this forum to listen to your woes and successes
Best wishes Linda 💖💖
