Hyperthyroid - Back after 3 years

Posted , 4 users are following.

I have recently been put on PTU for Low Thyroid levels.

Think it was 0.22 on the test.

I dont know everything is going wrong.

IBS was really bad a month ago - Or was it even IBS? was it Thyroid?

Then my right ear it feels like its so blocked and irritated. Not improving with the clean.

And now Thyroid is back.

I feel miserable I could barely walk today - I am so angry irritated. I cant cope with things.

I took the PTU today.

Tonight I will take antenex - its like valium,

Three years ago  even the specialist was shocked that it got better and I was off the medicines.

How do i deal with the stress worry anxiety - Everyone i live with are highly stressed people and I dont really go out to much because my anxiety is so bad - i nearly cried so much today.

Thanku

Hi, I just wanted to reply and say I know how you feel, ever since I can remember way way back I wax always ill with one thing or another, my mum always took me to the gp no real answer as to why apart from lots of viruses and lots lots and lots of antibiotics.

over the following years, I have had same symptoms as you, visited many councilers and still no results, just kept giving me antidepressants, I think I have had 10 in total.

then 4 years ago I was told I had hypothyroidisum and started the menopause, started on LEVO and hrt at the same time, nothing working, I am either buzzing all over the place or I can't move for lethargy, up and down with thyroxine, here I am 4 years later exactly the same, had to come if hrt, it did not seem to like me, on antidepressants again which has taken the depression away but now I'm anxious and panicky shaking inside and out joints really sore, I am fed up with it all my social life is null and void.

i have wrote a letter to my go asking to be refered to an endo and see what's really happening I am convinced I have hashimotos, as well as the menopause, since coming off hrt I have lost two and a half stone in three months even though I am still eating.  My left ear does the buzzing and ringing popping and banging, just been diagnosed with benign positional vertigo

I know what you mean about the crying, no matter what you tell yourself it does not stop.

I hope you find some comfort and happiness soon.

Im trying to be helpful, so I hope my short story will help. I was diagnoised with hyperthyroid at age 27. It came on as a storm. One day I was ok the next my heart was racing past 140 beats. I thought perhaps it was just anxiety as I had some experience with anxiety. I decided to go see my doctor as the full night my heart could not slow down. Right away he said I don't think you have heart disease I think you are hyperthyroid. He took a blood test and it came back positive for the disease. He sent me to an endo, and I didn't like him right away. He squeezed my neck and then said I don't think you have hyperthyroid, no testing at all. Went back to GP and aksed him to handle it and he did. I took radio active iodine within a week or two. I was told that it would take up to three months before my symptoms faded, which were the racing heart and anxiety as well as IBS and inability to settle. I was put on a low dose of benzo, which helped but didn't take everything away. By the third month, I had gone hypo. It was now time to treat that and I was feeling much better. I started with a low dose of synthroid. All of my heart issues were gone in two months, anxiety hung around for three, and the IBS  cleared up for the most part in maybe 6 weeks. It's been a long time im 58 now, so over 30 years I've been hypo and taken medication but I've never had really any problems with my thyroid since. I don't know if this helps calm you but your thyroid doesn't have to rule your life. It can be treated. Im still a more on the hyper side person even with a low thyroid, but that just me. It's a real rough ride for the first three mo this if you choose radio active iodine but, it does cure the problem. The important thing is during the time you are still hyper to treat those symptoms the best you can with the help of your Endo or GP? Hang in there, it's a tough disease but so treatable.

      Thanku for your story.

      I am currently on PTU.

I saw a different doctor and she said the medicine should not be given so quickly- that sometimes thyroid plays up and we should retest.

I am on the medicine anyway. I lost about 5 kilos. but i dont know if it was from thyroid.

What happened was i had this terrible nausea - diarrhea and could not eat for days - lost my appetite.

Then my ear started giving me problems.

They said i had IBS 2 years ago so i thought the diarrhea and all that was because i ate something bad.

then the doctor said my heart rate was too high - so he tested and now on PTU for hyperthyroid.

The other doctor said to bring my blood results and see what she thinks.

My symptoms are all over the place. All i know was December last year thyroid was fine. for 3 years i was fine. its really strange how it comes and goes.

It feels as though for me it comes when my body just is so stressed and sick like the diarrhea etc. Is that even IBS?

i am full of symptoms -so scared.
