hyperthyroidism and surgery not related to thyroid

Hi i have hyperthyroidism and it's a bit up and down been lowered on carbimazole only taking 30 mg but that's been updated to 40 again as thyroid deciding to play up but I'm due to have surgery in a few weeks I'm having a suprapubic catheter put in as my bladder doesn't work and normal catheters have caused a bit of damage but my gp says I shouldn't have the surgery but my bladder specialist says it's fine although I do have to be asleep for surgery but now I'm worried as to what to think ie gp says no because of risk but consultant says it's fine I'm not seeing the thyroid specialist for another 3 months and can't get an early appointment to discuss the issues. Has anyone else had non related surgery with out any issues. Thanks for reading

Hi. My daughter has over active thyroid and is in need of dental surgery under general anaesthetic. The dentist has refused to give her anaesthetic until her thyroid is stable. so there must be some kind of risk.

Hope she is ok and can get it sorted soon, thank you for replying I'm now confused as to why consultant says it's ok my thyroid is all over the place and medication has just been increased because it's not stable and he knows this but I really do need the surgery and i have been told I can't have the epidural for the surgery so i do have to be asleep :-(

Hi there. Her thyroid is starting to respond a little. She sees the endo on Monday. She's on an immune support mineral selection and vit d and b complex and I've just sent her some herbal tablets for her 'greens' as her diet is poor. Folks on this forum talk about L cartenine being really vital and she's now taking those too. Try and avoid any other hormones - vaccines etc. I'm sure the depo provera contraceptive has contributed to her thyroid problem this time as ive read the thyroid responds to it and tries to attack it. I'd also rate magnesium supplements and sleep and as stress free life as poss. Part of her tooth fell out the other day I think this is because of the vit d deficiency and the depo. She is going to be ok. best wishes to you too x x
