I'm 23, male, bad symptoms make me think colon cancer - please anyone advise me.

Hi guys,

So I'm writing here because recently I have gotten some symptoms that have concerned me deeply. Generally I haven't been as attentive to things because I am 23 years old (male), and generally am in good shape (work out regularly, try to eat decently)

Its fair to say my bowel movements have varied throughout my life to present, certainly think I have a slightly more sensitive gut in general.

Recently however I passed 2 quite difficult stools, these were quite red when inspecting them appears to be blood. They left the toilet paper quite red in general. Stools passed before and after have been thinner.. Ribbon like in some cases, which I have read is a bad warning side. On top of this, just under my rib cage on my left side I have been having some pains however these are somewhat dull

I don't drink a crazy amount of alcohol (occasionally on weekends, and some wine) but I do smoke a fair amount of marijuana. I have tried calling a colonoscopy center to book an appointment.. But I am patiently waiting on them to call me back.

Can anyone explain what these symptoms could mean? I am freaking out thinking I have colon cancer currently..

I didn't receive any reply... And my post went far down the listings so I'm replying to myself hoping that any of you could advise me.

    Updates since last time:

    - Appears to be blood on paper ocassionally when wiping.

    - Abdominal pain is somewhat dull, moves around from upper to lower, however is 95% felt on the left side of my abdomen - I wouldn't call this pain significant, more nagging and nauseating.

    - No "normal" stool to date since original post. Seems to be a lot of very loose stool, diareah mostly

    - Ocassionally I have been using the bathroom only to relieve myself of small amounts of mucus.. Not pleasant

    - My anxiety is going off the charts.. This could be contributing.. My appetite has gone down however this could also be because of anxiety

    - I called my mom and dad who told me my dad has had some polyps removed last year however my father had no issues in his youth. Meanwhile my grandfather was diagnosed with Colitis when he was in his 20's, however his cause of death was pancreas cancer.

I have an appointment with a gastroenterologist next week Tuesday but this stress and these symptoms are really concerning me..

Any guidelines as to what this could be?

Hi Max, hope you have seen a specialist. I had almost exactly the same symptoms as you. Left it a bit late, so when I eventually had a colonoscopy it turned out I have Stage III rectal cancer. Get help asap if you haven't already.

Hi max I'm exactly the same as you, I'm a 22 year old male I'm currently getting blood when I wipe everyday for a good week now and well I'm just convinced I've got colon cancer. Had stool test/blood test and an ultrasound up to now and waiting on results. But we've got to tell ourselves that it's unlikely due to our age and it's probably an auto immune disorder or something like that
