Is there anything in you're life recently that has been upsetting or traumatic something that you have pushed out of the way it could be something you have suppressed that is upsetting you or could be something medical (ie hormonal time of the month ) if it continues go see your gp tell him what is going on is it possible that your pregnant any new medication that your taking all could be a contributing factor do you have a stressful job anything can trigger something like that

Hi Amy has anything recently happened, e.g a death in the family, breakup, job loss. If not what are you thinking about before you started crying? I've had this before walking home from work, visiting a doctors it can be heightend anxiety which then forms into depression. There is help and support groups out there. Since I have been on medication as I relapsed about a month ago I have not cried, my anxiety levels have gone down and I have started getting things done I have needed to do for a while done as am not scared on acting.

I would go see a doctor if this keeps happening hope your feeling better soon.

    Amy,

Is this the anniversary of anything? Your body remembers even though your mind forgets.

hi amy, I'm 14 and the same thing happened to me today. I wasn't really that sad to begin with, just tired and a tiny bit upset (but nothing that would normally make me cry). I was about to sit down w my friends, and out of nowhere i started crying. I dont know what triggered it, but I do know that I'm on my period, so maybe that had something to do w it?

You might have depression if it develops and gets worse... I'm thriteen and depression isn't only "crying for no reason". It's also irregular sleep patterns, loss of energy, apetite changes, worthlessness, and so on. It's serious. If it keeps going then you should talk to your parents or someone close, if not then try a therapist. It can get worse, you can start self-harm and get suicidal thoughts, but not necessary. This is not to scare you. Just be aware. Wish you luck

    Hi Amy,

I work at an office full of therapists and a psychiatrist, and it seems like you might have unspecified depression, possibly anxiety. I suggest you talk to your parents, let them know what's going on. You could even have a talk with your guidance counselor, but the one thing you shouldn't do is ignore it. Your body is trying to tell you something and you should listen to it. Depression is not something to make light of so, your best bet would be to seek assistance. Good luck to you Amy.

    Hi Amy,

I think you maybe a 'Normal' teenager going through puberty. Some teenagers male and female go through episodes of upset/crying for no apparent reason, it comes with the body changes. Double check with your doctor and you can look it up on line- Puberty and Symptoms.

    Kind regards from Hazel

I just Googled "Why do I start crying for no reason?" and came across this site with your question too.  I am going on 76 (in 2 months) and have been dealing with some health issues.  Recently got a steroid shot for hip bursitis.  It is a wierd feeling to just start crying.  It could be my medications (8 of them).  I lost my best friend, my 72 year old brother, in death about a year ago and one of my 7 children about 7 years ago by suicide.  Sometimes I feel all mixed up although I know my faith in God is strong.  One of my daughters thinks I should see a therapist.  I think I am about at that point.

Hey there, not sure if this is still an issue for you anymore as it was 3 years ago. But maybe my answer will help someone else. I had the exact same thing happen to me from roughly age 12-15. Which was worse back then cause there was no google!!! So i felt completely alone. Its embarrassing and scary and you feel like you just want to hide. Just remember that its more normal than you think and it actually makes you a stronger person down the line. but the main thing to remember is that it gets better. Thats gaurenteed, its not gonna last forever you just gotta hang in there. Stay positive and rock on!!
