I hear ya. Open enrollement is opening back up again in November (I believe). Get on medicaid asap and you can get your visit covered so long as you are referred. My ENT is pretty worthless in helping my ear condition, but at least I don't pay out of pocket.

Hello can you decribe your symptoms because the ear can have many issues besides an ear infection you might have something else what do you feel?

It feels clogged and has sharp pains at times. One time I went to the hospital and the doctor asked me if I had surgery he made it seem like it was awful looking. But still antibiotic and no answers. I know they say its bad to use q tips but one day I wanted to see if something came out on it and could barley put it in without it feeling like its touching the eardrum. Sorry its hard to explain.

I totally know what you are going through. Have they taken a swab? I had one infection that (once I had the swab back) I was told that nothing else would touch it apart from this one treatment that was Marketed as Eye drops.

Do you remember anything happening just before you first got the infection, like swimming or Flying? Are you Diabetic? Do you wear Headphones? Have you had problems before this started?

I've never had a swab. Not to long after I had MRSA and was in the hospital for over a week. I think at times it could be from the antibiotic they gave me from iv I have told my doctor this but it doesn't seem to click and almost every time I go to check on my ears every other time I have a sinus infection with the ear infection that has never cleared up.

It seems like that they are treating you for a Bacterial Infection, when maybe they should be giving you something for a Viral Infection. If it is Viral, Antibiotics will do nothing. They need to swab it and give you the propper treatment, then you should be on top of it within 6-10 Days (touch wood). This would aslo link in with your Meningitis. When you get the right drops, try and avoid Headphones as this will incubate the problem. If you want to skip the Doctor, your Pharmacy should be able to sort you out. Hope this helps and I hope it gets better. AL

Have doctors checked your eusthian tubes the clogging can be caused by that I say this because Eusthian tube dysfunction lasts for a very long time and causes similar issues like ear infection

Heather you need to see and ENT. Can you go to a hospital emergency section and say you are experiencing a lot of pain, next time you have an ear infection? Give them your history and see if they can help. Is there a public waiting list to see ENTs where you live? Not sure how your health system works. I am in Australia so it may be different. Definitely getting a swab of the infection so the doctor treats you with the correct antibiotic, is a good idea. Often with long lasting infections, surgery is the only way to get rid of the infection. If a doctor hasn't cleared it up in several months, then you need to see someone that can.
