Improvement ?

Hi I've posted on here a few times now. I'm now 6 weeks on sertraline for severe anxiety.

I just need to know if I am heading in the right direction.

Ok before I took them I had bad IBS, no appetite, no motivation, couldn't get out of bed, very restless, intrusive thoughts, depression.

Where I am now is my IBS has very much improved, my appetite is good and I've gained a few pound. I have a bit more energy and get up in the morning and can do more round the house, I've been to the shops on my own, been for a few job interviews, albeit very nervous, been to a yoga class.

However I still wake every morning with negative thoughts (not so severe) and an anxious feeling in my upper stomach and muscle tension. As the day goes on I do start to feel better and by the evening I am quite relaxed. My mood is lifting and I can concentrate on conversation and TV programmes. I don't feel ready to socialise or go for meals yet. My family have noticed a difference. I still feel anxious and still keep obsessing about my symptoms. I do get days where I'm better than others.

What I want to know is will I continue to get better and better as the weeks go on and when will I feel totally better? I'm on 150mg btw. Will there be a point where I will be normal again?

My dr also thinks I've improved but I did see her on a good day.

Thanks for all your advice.

I am glad that you have a good days and able to enjoy the moment.

Yes you will continue to improve and you have to give 150mg the full 8 weeks to get the full benefit. That means gradually you will feel better and having some anxious moment and it will get better and better until week 8 from the last dose.

The morning anxiety in my opinion will be the last thing that it goes.

You seem to be on the mend and moving into a more positive place. You are bound to suffer some mood changes these are normal and you are no different than any other person with a negative mood.

You are doing well give yourself time and you should be able to move on

    Things will continue to improve..

Stay healthy drink plenty and get lots of fresh air.

Do morning mindful meditation in bed to start your day. and while your having breakfast and getting ready listen to positive happy affirmations daily too xx
