How does back pain or tail bone pain correlate with rectocele mainly (or any prolapse)?

Thanks!

I'm not very sure Stephen, but I know that when I prolapsed the achy pain I got was the lower pelvic floor at the back, I think once the ligaments started to fail it put more strain on the upper pelvis.

I know that since my ops if I overdo things it's the lower pelvis at the back that gets achy too.

    Not sure if that helps,

I'm not sure if this is the same thing but I have had pelvic pain for years. It was the main reason I had a hysterectomy at the same time as my anterior repair. Unfortunately it didn't make any difference and now I get much worse pain after each bowel movement.

I saw a colorectal consultant (as well as urogynaecologist) as I wanted to know if my rectocele was the cause. I've had various tests but no one can give me an answer. He said it may be where ligaments are attached to the pelvis.

I hope that if/when I have my rectoenterocele repair that will improve! I have asked the question on here before if anyone had discomfort following a BM but it seems many do not. I should add I have a low back ache most of the time too it's just much worse following a BM.

You would hope that putting things back in their normal position would help.

I have pain after bm that lasts all day, also have back problems.

It burns like mad, I was told it may be the pudendal nerve.

Had a rectocele repair in April.

Oh dear that's not what I wanted to hear 😕. Did you have the back problems before the op too? I was hoping the surgery would make things better. Did the doctor confirm nerve entrapment?

Hi Steph. I have same problem but I think mine is due to having scoliosis and arthritis of the spine as well as Rectocele and vaginal vault prolapse. They seem to press on the  tail bone all the time and worse when I need a BM! After, it still hurts for awhile, may be muscle spasm after emptying bowel. I can't get any info from surgeons or GP's. Both conditions are seen by different specialists and they don't appear to communicate!

Interesting, I too have scoliosis hmmm... Are you seeing a urogynecogist for your prolapsed?

Yes Steph. I'm on a waiting list but have asked them not use polyester tape to repair it as I'm allergic to polyester and other man made materials. I feel I'm now on a back burner because of this. Keep having my clinic appointments changed/postponed! Does anyone know if surgeons can refuse to use certain fabric supports, like porcine because of religious reasons? questionrolleyes

I have had coccyx pain off and on for 15 months. It is affected by your pelvic floor problems. It has not gone away and has been bad post surgery. Having internal manipulation from osteopath which is helping.

Ocupational health have pit my under the disability legislation now as I have had it over a year and also due to the nature of the rectocytocele surgery.

      Hi Rita,

Does the pain go right under to the front? Mine does if I sit for long, and by bedtime it's really severe nerve pain.

I don't really know who to see, pain clinic seems the best option.

Maybe injections, I can't go on like this.
