Hi, is she on methotrexate as this is a known side effect? Has she has thyroid tested as it can cause hives and increase joint pain. I'm no doctor/ have no medical training but have read much on these two possibilities. Good luck.

    Hi

I wasdiagnosed with PsA in 2011 and frequently get sores in the corners of my mouth, told it was oral thrush and prescribed Daktarin. Also told to eat more greens. Hope this helps.

NB I'm not on Methotrexate as I couldn't tolerate it.

I have full Psa, it is not a Canker, you will get sores sometimes in the mouth although sometimes it will be like cold sores, the jaw can also be effected

The red bumps are the beginning or part of the skin complaint. Psoriasis is the bodies immune system been overreactive, this appears as redness and irritation of the skin condition. When the body, produces more skin the old skin plaques are formed. these plaques are what makes a mess on the carpet

The sore joints are caused by the immune system attacking the joints, sometimes the condition does not show on XRays or Scans. Generally this can effect small joints in hands and toes also the tendon shieves. The neck and part of the spine can also be a problem, knees can also be effected.as can the hips. The rib cage also can have problems.

PAPPA the charity can be approached on the internet, they specialise in PsA.

The treatments that can be tried is PUVA  and other types of light treatments, generally they also use Salic Acid at various strengths and apply it to the skin, they then wash the ointment of with Aquatious Cream after a given time, When Puva etc is given medication is given to sensitise the skin to the PUVA etc. Treatments are undertaken three times a week and the Patient will have to stay out of the sun after treatment.

The joints etc are treated with DMARD medications and associated Biologics can be tried, these suppress the immune system and are generally anti cancer medications. Steriod injections can also be given

When i started taking my methotrexate i developed canker sores and mouth ulcers...i have to say it's due to the medication because they were never an issue before.

I even started getting bumps on my lips. I freaked out and went to the Dr thinking i had cold sores but was not the case.

Now that ive quit taking the meds, (about 3 weeks ago) i have not had any mouth issues.

Hope this helps. Best of luck to your granddaughter i hope she feels better soon!
