Is hsp hereditary?

I have hsp i have done since i was 8 months old (now 33) i was told hsp was definately not hereditary but my son came out in the rash on his back last year ,i showd the docter the picture n was comfimed it was hsp then i told the docter this picture was not of mysef but of my 8 year old son the docter then dismissed that this could be hsp ?? Debbie

    HSP is not hereditary per se, but it is an inflammatory response to a virus, bacteria or vaccine.  Inflammatory or auto-immune diseases are known to have familial links and therefore if a parent has one of the above diseases, then HSP reaction.  Hope this helps - you may have passed on your immune genetics.

    There is information about HSP on the arthritis research website - which would imply that it is categorised within this group.

    My specialist told me it is known to be heriditary but not always. most common in twins. since there is so little information and it's pretty recently become a disease not much is known.
