Good evening everyone. as I'm sitting here watching the cubbies beat up on the Dodgers I have a question. I had my knee replaced 13 weeks ago and the lower half of my leg goes numb. Has anyone else experience that issue?

It's below the left knee. It is just the front part of my leg.

I m sorry, it's been numb ever since the surgery from below the knee to the ankle. I hope it heals as time goes on. Some people say it's normal, but I don't know.

I suppose it depends on what you mean by normal . .I do know that it is quite common, and a lot of people have numbness. In my case it's still there, nearly two years later, but I have to say that if I had to choose between the excruciating nerve pain at the beginning, and the subsequent numbness I would go with the numbness every time! If it doesn't go away, and I think in most cases it does, you do get used to it. In my thigh, the numbness is now only on the surface . .and if I press it hard, then I can feel that. Hope yours gradually recovers and if it really worries you talk to your specialist about it. some prescribe gabapentin or lyrica . . but they can have side effects too. You are now over the worst! It just gets better from now on! All the best Valerie

I was sitting on my bed and my leg started to get cold and felt numb. I've never had this before and once I stood up it went away. I'm thinking my lower leg went to sleep but I sat on my bed like this before my tkr and it didn't go numb. I just want to be sure that it's not something serious. Posting my concerns on here gives me unbiased information. My therapist and doctor haven't had knee replacement and while they've seen many people who have, they still really don't understand what it's like.

Yes I had the same thing happen & it took some time to go away. I am now almost 9 months post op & don't have that numbness anymore.
