Hi Kaleb17, I know exactly how you fell. You are not alone. There are a lot of other discussion here about similar symptoms. I have experiencing the lump feeling in my throat for over 2-3 months now and went to the emergency twice because of strong pain + anxiety/panic. All exams I have done till now are normal. My symptons have changeg/moved location slightly after some time but still so unpleasant and impossible to be ignored.

Don't get too anxious and stressed about it cause it does make the symptoms get worse.

I have been reading about strees and anxiety causing these neck/stomach problem, which I believe is my case and maybe yours. Definatelly I somehow developed a reflux or something similar that I never ever had in my life before that is causing this tennis ball stuck in the throat sensation, like when you are trying to not cry...

I have done the camera exam trhouth the nose, blodd test for tyroid funcion, heart checked and lungs x ray and all came as normal.

Now I am waiting for the barium swallow result to discuss with the ENT specialist doctor, and also have booked a endoscopy in a month time. Lets see... But I am quite convinced That I have got this problem because the unbearable strees I have been exposed to (being severed bullied by boss for over a year, helping my partner to heal from tyroid cancer and house moving process)

Hopefully we should all be fine and these symptoms might be cause by anxiety + strees! And we overthink about it just increasing the anxiety and stress, so become a never ending worst scenario to get healed/healthy again and live life with quality and joy. It has been very difficult but we must be strong and change our life style and routine to reduce what is cause the anxiety and stress, maybe do more physical activities and sports, also all the advices for those who suffer from silent acid reflux and similar issues.

I hope my reply makes you feel better in same way other comenta helped me to calm down and think less about it.

Check my profile and see the other discussion I have made some comments, there are about 125 comments over a discussion regarding the same feeling you have.

    Take care!

Thanks a lot!!! I'll definitely check it out!! It really has made my life difficult to enjoy!!! Cause I stay focused on my lump and I constantly wonder if it'll ever go away I hope and pray it does because I don't want to deal with it forever!! What an awful life that would be!?

    Hi kaleb

You are definately not alone with your symptoms, I have had all the available tests which confirm there is nothing more serious going on but the lump in the throat which is mostly very painful will not leave me. This has been with me for over a year now and although it shows no sign of improving I have managed to live with it partly by not over worrying about it. All the best

Dear Rob, have u done endoscopy and barium swallow or similar?

Have you found this related to anxiety and stress?

Hi Henrique, I have had an Endoscopy and the Nasal version, they showed inflammation but nothing else. As to anxiety and stress being related it is difficult to say, generally I am pretty laid back but when having a bad time with this I do think that possibly it makes it worse. I live in hope that I shall wake up one day and it will be better.

      All the best to you

Hi Kaleb, I had the same symptoms many years ago. Mine was really bad, it got to the point where my throat swelled every time I ate. I went to an ENT who looked into my nose and throat with a scope (done in the office) and said it was from GERD.  I took Prevacid for 30 days and stayed on a bland diet. I felt improvement within one week, and by a month's time was all better. That was over 15 years ago, and am just now having another flare up. Trying the Prevacid again.  You may want to try Prevacid or Prilosec, something along those lines to actually stop the acid from being produced for a while so the throat can heal. Also, stay away from dairy or anything spicey or greasy, it will make symptoms much worse! Good luck smile

Hi Kaleb, I too have LPR with all the symptoms, I take Pantoprazole 40mg but I had lost 20+ pounds before things settled down. The medication helped me with the nausea within 45 minutes of taking the  medication so I feel very lucky that it worked for me. I can't imagine going through this without some kind of medication to help with the symptoms. Have you been to a dr for this? An endoscopy would solve many of your fears. There are other medications that may work better for you. It does take a while for the medication to work fully, however like I said the nausea went away immediately for me, but the other symptoms took a while longer. I too also wondered it the lump would ever go away but it did. My LPR is brought on by exercise so I have to be careful not to over do it. My breathing is also affected by the reflux. If possible get an appointment for an endoscopy so you can settle your fears. I am sorry you have to deal with this at such a young age. Young people should be having fun not worrying about health issues. Good luck to you.
