Lump has come back after being cleared and saying i have fibrocystic breasts

Hi all. I'm looking for some advise as I'm struggling to get an appointment with my gp, even when I managed to get a appointment the doctor told me to see the nurse and now I'm being told that the nurse doesn't actually deal with breasts and lumps and to make another appointment with a gp to get it checked. Very frustrating as I now can't get an appointment untill the 20th of June. Anyway here is my story.

Before Christmas last year I noticed a pea size lump in my left breast just down from my armpit and it was hard to touch and didn't move.it was a little sore but nothing major. The doctor at first didn't want to refer me and told me to wait a few weeks to see if it went on its own and didn't really want to refer me to the breast clinic incase I took an appointment of someone who actually had breast cancer. My mum was very angry at this comment because how did she know that the lump I had was not indeed something serious. In the end I was referred. The breast care unit was also very cross at the doctors comment and told me any lump must be checked by breast care specialists. In the end I was checked and told that the lump was caused my a fibrocystic cyst and should go down but any changes in size or pain then to go back. A month later the lump had gone and I was over the moon. But 3 weeks ago (I'm pretty sure it's the same lump in the same spot) it has come back, it's not got bigger or changed, so my question is should I get it checked or should I just wait to see if it goes away on its own again. I don't want to waste anyone's time and since the last time I saw the gp and how she spoke to me it's put me off and she made me feel awful and like I was wasting her time.

Sorry for the long post.

Thanks you

Hi Mariekate, ANY changes in the breast should atleast be checked with a doctor! You also deserve a doctor who will treat you with kindness! Please, Please look up a near by doctor with good reviews and make an appointment with them asap. Benign lumps can come back non-benign. I hope you get it taken care of !

Thank you for your reply jordon14264. The doctors surgeries in my area are so stretched and over crowded they can't keep up with demands of patients and appointments, even other surgeries are telling me to come back in a few months to get into their surgery as they don't have enough doctors to let my family in, so unfortunately I have to stay with my current one who is also over subscribed and in no rush to see me about this new lump. sad

i just wish I could be as  calm and relaxed as they are about it. But I do think about it and worry. I only want someone to check it and say it's ok but finding that almost impossible.

    Thanks again

I am 70 now but many years ago I had what I was told were "lumpy breasts" that were extremely painful. I had found a particular lump and saw a consultant and he said it was a cyst and there and then decided to stick a need in it to hopefully draw out any fluid.  It was surprising what came out which was a relief, not only in the fact that it was out but had it been a solid lump I would have needed a biopsy.   This must have been fifteen or more years ago and although he warned me the cyst might come back it has never returned.

As I had been having very painful lumpy breasts for a while he advised me to take Evening Primrose Oil capsules but the important ingredient is something called GLA (gamma linolenic acid).  There's a specific does to take. Even if the capsules say 1000mg of EPO it's the GLA that's important.  He said I needed to take 240mg of GLA  a day and I did this by taking three capsules that contained 80mg in each one. I would need to take them for four months to flood my body with the GLA and after that the pain should go. It was miraculous, the very bad pains I had been having in both breasts went and they became soft and no longer lumpy.  You could always try some EPO just to see if it helps with the lumpy breasts but at least you've been given the reassurance than it is a cyst and not something else. Hope this helps.
