Lump near the anus with acute pain;Hemorrhoids? Anal fissures? or both? (picture included)

Hello,

I can feel a grape sized lump near the anus for 20 days now, it bleeds sometimes during BM and it causes a severe pain (aching to be specific). So far, it seems like hemorrhoids, but in the past week, on the inside of my anus it feels like someone is sticking a knife up there twisting it around, and while BM, it's like defecating shards of glass and it persists for hours after BM. It's terribly painful and disturbing. Can hemorrhoids cuse such a pain? or do i have both?

Thank you.

    Hello Akra, hope you're fine.

I was diagnosed once with both hemorrhoids and fissures and it was as you described. The specialist said, I probably had a fissure a long time ago, and then developed piles at the same place as the fissure (what a hard luck). The treatment seemed to help with the fissure and now the pain is tolerable/ sometimes gone.

As for the pics you attached, I really can't say whether it's hemorrhoids or not, my piles tend to be blueish. I advise you to see a specialist to rule out any other disorders.

    ?

    Wish you get better soon,

    Regards.

Hi Akra , as always , I'm sorry to hear that another person is suffering from haemorrhoids , and haemhorrhoids is definitely what you have . I have had mine for many years now and been through about 8 procedures , but never managed to totally rid myself of them . Fissures sting and can bleed , and will likely be the source of the knife stabbing pain . As Aminaya says , the best course of action is to get them checked . Once confirmed you will then likey be offered a choice of treatments etc . We are all different , and what works for someone does not always work for everyone , so make your own choices . Best advice I can give would be to try the less invasive stuff first , such as ointments , choose a diet that wont make things worse , and have a good look at how you actually go to the toilet . Look up 'squatting to go to toilet' on the net , these things all help a little , or sometimes a lot . First of the invasive treatments would be banding . Not totally successful with everyone , but always worth a try before moving on to THD . After that its haemorrhoidectomy , and thats a last resort , believe me . Good luck .

I just found my first hemmrroid at least I think that's what it is I don't have much pain just uncomfortable and some itching I noticed today there was some blood should I worry

Hi , if you havent been checked by a doc already , always best to do so . Bleeding isnt so serious , and not unusual to have haemorhoids without pain . If you have the start of a haemorrhoid , best advice I can give is avoid constipation , straining , dehydration , and check your diet . You might be lucky enough to fend it off before it becomes a pain in the a...

      Good luck Madysmeme.

Very welcome . With regards UTI , I honestly dont know . I know sometimes when I have onset of piles , I can be going frequently to the toilet , but thats more of a pressure thing than infection .

that is definitely a hemorrhoid you have there. I can remember the pain like it's yesterday. mine were the same size as yours(i had two of those). the pain was unbearable especially during a BM. just make sure you drink lots of water and try using a sitz bath. you may also try creams and suppositories since they help sooth the pain. also try taking laxatives to smoothen your stool and try eat high fiber foods. lots of luck

      Hi there,

I will have the banding procedure on 1st of February 2017 and I am really scared. After I read some opinions and people who experienced this procedure I am terrified, only negative opinions and I am very confused, I don't know if I want to go forward with this procedure now. I have 2 small internal piles and a bigger one which comes out after each bowel movement and it has to be introduced back in, apologies for these expressions but I don't know how to explain in other terms 😧. I've been to the doctor and I was checked and he recommended the banding. He didn't explained very well how the banding will be and I asked him if is painful and he said it's gonna be uncomfortable but you can resume to your normal activities straight away. I managed to have off on the day of the procedure and the next 2 days but I can't afford and my employer won't give me off for weeks. Can you please tell me how is the procedure, what to expect, how long does it take to recover. I am a professional nursery nurse and I work with children and my job involves lots of movement?

I will really appreciate your advice!

      Many thanks,

      Suzana

Hi Suzana , please dont be worrying about it . I have had bandings done on 4 occasions , and only one of the times was there any discomfort , and that was because the band had been put on slightly off target . I dont believe the success rate for banding is too great , and it certainly never worked for me . But , it isnt a very invasive procedure , and I would highly recommend that you go through with it , as it may work for you , and remove the need for any of the more invasive and painful procedures . Honestly , there was no pain , only mild discomfort . Go for it Suzana , and good luck .
