meniere's disease without titinnus?

Posted , 4 users are following.

I have 3 episodes of vertigo for the last 6 months and I dont have any titinnus. Vertigo occurs only when I am lying down or turning my head. 3 days back I visited ENT and he put me on Prednisone for 2 weeks and low salt diet. He says i have Meniere's symtoms. But many people have titinus. My vertigo last only less than 30 seconds or a min.

@melody I thought the same. First time when i got this attack i suffered for 3 days and everything is fine later. For the second attack it left me with small dizziness (Not much noticeable) It took me a month to get back 100% health. For the third attack I am suffering since 3 weeks and i am dizzy all the time. When i am driving i suddenly feel dizzy at the turns or shoulder checks. But I am not sure why i am having dizziness all the time, My ears are full and I am very feeling very anxious too. (Sorry about my bad english)

It could be labyrinthitis as that can cause fullness of the ears and hearing loss too. And very possible u have labyrinthitis and BPPV. It's such a guessing game with these inner ear things sometimes.

Meniere's symptoms are spontaneous and not triggered by head movements.  If you are standing up and turn your head, do you still get vertigo?

I only got vertigo 3 times that's when I am waking up from sleep suddenly in the middle of night. Now when I lie down or turn my head up and down I get dizzy and feel weak and unstable. So basically when I am walking around I am feeling imbalanced. I am also feeling ear fullness, head pressure and pain in the back of head (Near neck). So these are the things which will happen when I am turning my head to left , up and down.

The head triggers need to be clarified.  You need to find an ENT physician with experience in neurotology.  Clearly this is not Meniere's disease.

Yes I am on the way to get an appointment for Neuro Surgeon. My ENT doctor is saying that this is  Menieres disease but he is also getting me an neuro surgeon appointment to me. Currently I am on No Salt, alcohol, choclate,Coke diet to check whether this goes away if I do this but it doesnt seem to be.

@melody Yes I am guessing it too. Lets see what happens with my prednisone does. I can confirm the results in 2 weeks.

I don't think it is :-) doesn't sound like it to me. I have what I suspect is vestibular neuritis so I know how u feel

I am feeling happy because it is not Menieres. I have a question Can Vestibular Neurtritis be reccurrent? Can it be treated with Prednisone?

It can be. But for me I woke up with vertigo (room spinning) which subsided and then was dizziness. Balance was off and I had nausea. There is no treatment for it other than time. I'm already 5 months in.

To me it sounds more like BPPV as its when ur lying down and it's short vertigo episodes. U need to see ur doctor or an ENT who can perform the Epy to get the crystals back into the ear canal. With Ménière's I believe vertigo is atleast a couple of hours

I havent experienced Vertigo more than a minute untill now. I hope it is just BPPV. I have my appointment on Oct 5th. I will talk to my doctor and get a correct diagnosis.

Keep us updated! I really think it's BPPV or an inner ear illness but not Ménière's. Sometimes when they don't no they just label it as Ménière's. Inner ear stuff is so complex

      Hi Melody,

I visited doctor yesterday and I asked him my questions regarding meneiers without tinnnitus. He says its too early to diagonise and it may be in early stages. He got me of prednisone because it didnt help anything. I am still having vertigo episodes in the morning especially when waking up and still suffering from dizziness for the rest of the day.

Did he say anything about BPPV? I would go somewhere for another opinion. I read that it can take 5 specialists visits to get an accurate diagnosis sometimes!

He is saying that its too late to diagonise anything. I am going to my GP next week so he can refer me to different specialist.
