Nasal Dryness or something else?

Two weeks ago, I woke up with pain in my left nostril.  I thought it was a pimple and would go away, but the pain is shooting into my left eye and temple area off and on.  Is this nasal dryess I am experiencing or could it be something more serious?  It is strange that I suddenly felt it over night.  I have history of polyp in this area but wasn't big enough to cause a concern 2 years ago.  I am trying to keep area moist with argan and almond sweet/vitamin e oil but hear that I shouldn't keep doing that, lipoid pneumonia may result in repeat use.  Saline spray makes it worse.  I will go in eventually to check it out, but this ENT Dr. I have usually blows me off.  He is not the compassionate type and to see another specialist is an hour away.  Any suggestions on what to do?  Tired of the pain.

    Hi

The only thing that helps me temporarily is to steam water and lower my head in the pot then I place a towel over my head. I had sinus surgery a few years ago because I was getting too many sinus infections. I hardly every get any infections anymore but the sinus pressure is a daily problem for me. My ENT doctor tells me that there is nothing wrong with my sinuses so I've started doing my own rearch online. I have found that nasal dryness might be one of the causes for my sinus pressure. I sleep with a humidifer at home and I also have a small one at work in my cubicle. It only works some of the time and I'm also tired of the pain and no ENT or allergists helping me. I wish I had a better suggestion for you. Good luck

Thanks.  I will try the steam out.  I used an OTC antibiotic cream inside my nose (just a tiny bit) for a week and it cleared up, took the pain away.  I feel so much better now.  It was probably dried to the max.  I hate the cold weather!

Have you tried the nasal rinses. Mine is a bottle type and I use the little packets that go with it. It's great for flushing out your sinus and moistens it.
