I am sorry that you are suffering.   I truly feel that nobody should ever suffer with pain.  The first thing you should do is question your doctor. Then go get a second and third opinion from a medical doctor and/or specialist. You are only 56 years old.  How long have you had the neck pain?  Why did you have it fused at such a young age?  I have pain in my neck and shoulders.  Diagnose Buffalo Hump and a bulging disc.  I too take tramadols.  I am going to start physical thearpy.  Then go from there.  Do research.

Have you tried a muscle relaxer? Or massage therapy? Sleep without a pillow, possibly have TMJ? It causes neck pain as well, there are videos on you tube that can teach you how to give yourself a TMJ massage which relaxes the muscles in jaws and neck good luck to you neck pain is the worst!
