So please tell me if anyone experience like me with watery stools but no pain. I have been taken Nexium combined with Zantac for 6 months now.

Diarrhoea, constipation, headaches are the three most commonly reported side effects of the drug itself.

Have you tried switching to a different PPI. Research has shown they are all as effective as each other when taken in equivalent dose. Attached is an equivalence table (plus UK NHS prices) taken from the www DownWithAcid org uk book.

Research has shown all PPIs are as effective as each other but some are better tolerated by some patients. Those experiencing side effects of diarrhoea, constipation, headaches or bloating on one may not experience them on another.

I have seen more complaints of these side effects from patinets on esomeprazole (Nexium) and fewer from those on pantoprazole (Protium / Protonix).

      Thanks Barretts,

I will try Proton. I had used Proton and Nexium before when I was younger. I had no symptoms of side effect but I didnt take it long as this time. It could be the case. At the moment, the second day without it seem not bad so I wait and see and act according to it. My GI specialist says the Nexium is  treating the symptoms and when we can eat and drink as normal then we can stop that. I believe that 80% true for I used it before short time around three months and I stop. May be I should stop for  a while and then go back give my system a break. I also may stop taking Zantac at night for last night when I got home late at 2am I had a glass of soya milk, the one I bought in Asian supermarket, then I took Zantac which gave me bloating of indigestion. It is weird. May be time for me to change it around. Just take Zantac when I feel needed not to prevent. Have you got similar symptoms when taking Zantac. It also gave me a weird feeling in my stomactch  when I was at work last night. I felt like my stomatch produce acid and it is not pain but tingling. Has you had that when you stop Nexium? Thanks again.
