Numb Tongue with Oral Lichen Planus?

Posted , 6 users are following.

My doctor thinks I might have Oral Lichen Planus due to sores in the back of my mouth/inner cheek for years now.  My gums are also very inflammed which I'm thinking is also from the Oral Lichen Planus but now I have been noticing my tongue being numb and tingles for no reason. I'm just wondering if that can also be due to Oral Lichen Planus? I read up on numb tongue and I see that is can due to nerve issues so is that something dfferent but wanted to find out if anyone out ther who has Oral Lichen Planus have experienced any tonque numbness?

      Hi Cheryl

Sorry you've had problems with your eye, hope it's improving and is looking better, how old are you... I'm almost 58 and have LP too, have had it many years, my dentist diagnosed it

Yes, i have had a tingling and a little numbness on the tip of my tongue with this condition. In fact, sometimes the tingling extends to my lips. It's not bad, but it's there off and on...

my right upper gum is always giving me the most trouble being inflamed and sometimes at the point that the gum peels off and bleeds.

I have OLP, I've had it for 10+ years. I would describe my issue as severe burning on my tongue. When the burning lets up the numbness is there. Aways an issue with my gums! Absolutely no spicy foods, no acidic nothing!!!

Started a new medicine last Wednesday called Plaquenil. So far so good!!! Burning has let up but not completely gone...but I will take it! Not completely miserable anymore! Comes with risk, tho!

I've had mine for about 12+ years. It was called burning mouth syndrome in the begining then it turned into OLP.  I've dental/oral specialists and none have ever suggested any medicine other than cloebetisol, prednesone, or dexamethesone....

hope the Plaquenil works well for you! smile
