Pain/discomfort under right rib cage.

I have been experiencing this for the last few months, I have been searching the web looking for answers.  I am a 45 year old female, in good health, I take no medications, thin, active, I eat healthy, so I am at a loss. I have this feeling like there is something under my right rib cage as if something is stuck underneath or enlarged. At first I thought I had strained a muscle b/c I had been working out in the yard the day before it started. It doesn't hurt, it just feels like there is something there that shouldn't be but when I touch the area there is no swelling or bulge. After about 3-4 weeks when it wasn't going away I went to see my doctor. They did blood work, urine labs and sent me for an ultrasound of gallbladder, all came back normal. I have no other symptoms like nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, etc. just this feeling like something is there. It seemed to go away on it's own and then came back and has come and gone since sometimes lasting a few days, sometimes a few weeks. When it is back wearing a bra is uncomfortable. Sometimes there is a warmth or burning sensation in the area. The only other symptoms I have had that I think are related are these: A few months before this started I experienced a fluttering sensation, almost like when I was pregnant and the baby moved, in the same location, a couple of times. Since this has started, on 3 or 4 different occasions, I have experienced a charlie horse like spasm in the same area, below the right rib, when bending over from a sitting position. Does anyone have any answers as to what this might be?  Does it sound like IBS? Peptic Ulcer? Hiatal Hernia?

    Hi Kit

Sounds like a Hiatus Hernia to me - I have one plus lots of other problems too. I too find wearing a bra very uncomfortable most of the time. Do you suffer from Gastric Reflux? Raising the head end of your bed by about 4 ins helps, as it stops the acid coming back in the night. Certain foods aggravate it, ie Acid foods, fatty foods, alcohol.Having an endoscopy will verify this, but need to see an upper GI specialist first. Good luck

Hi there! I think this thread is old but I just saw you posted a couple months back.

I've been having the symptoms for several months (feels like something is stuck under my right rib, not much else) Lab work came back fine. Gallbladder checked out perfectly clear, but it turns out I have a lesion on my liver. Getting an MRI next week.

I had sudden chest pain in the middle of the night a few days ago but not again since.

Have you had anyone look at your liver?

    • Posted

I had a couple lesions on my liver when I went in for an ultra sound and CT scan.....but they said a lot of people do...not to be concerned 🤔, I'm going in for an MRI and a thyroid ultrasound on Friday to find out why I have this bubble feeling under my right rib and now an irratated raspy throat at times....I also have bloating at times....having troubles with constipation.....they said I had a hiatal hernia when they did my colonoscopy and endoscopy, As well as acid reflux but I never had any heartburn until after my tests were done. The Dr put me on Zantac and then Prilosec then I started getting heartburn... So I got off of them and now I get heartburn quite often and it's the type of heartburn that starts in the morning and doesn't go away until I go to bed😣 so I will let you know what the doctors fine on my MRI .....this is very frustrating it's been going on since January😥

    • Posted

Good luck! Let me know how that MRI goes. I'm hoping mine will also happen this week. The great thing about an abdominal MRI is they should be able to see pretty much everything so I hope both of us get some sort of diagnosis. I'll report back with what I find!

    • Posted

Everything looked normal but they weren't able to diagnose the liver lesion. I am having another MRI in November to see if it changes. They believe the liver lesion is an incidental finding and they do not believe the liver is causing my discomfort.

I am seeing a GI doc today and having a pelvic ultrasound tomorrow. They want to rule out things like ovarian cancer, cysts, and endometriosis. I will keep you posted! What did you find out?

Hello , I had this problem too. I have a hiatus hernia , could not endure it a second time so I have been taken off the lust for an MRI on my liver . When I had an ultra sound my gall bladder was ok but it revealed a light patch on my liver , hence the MRI referral . I was on Lansoprazole for gastric reflux but haven’t taken it for a week as I hate taking tablets permanently. The reflux hasn’t reoccurred as yet but the under the rib discomfort has! Don’t know what to do now?!

      Was all alright?

      They saw 2.5

Cm lesion on my liver too- when checking me after a hernia repair as i have abdominal pains after surgery- but after MRI though they said all ok -nothing dangerous. This was 10 months ago but I still have pains under right ribs-

Feeling like something is there, bubble feeling? Hurts all the time

    • Posted

It was an I’m biblical hernia. They said a small one -I could feel it but you couldn’t see it on the outside.

Hello, My symptoms EXACTLY!!!! post says 2 years ago. How are you? and what happened? This (thing/feeling) has to go! Please reply.

this is me as well. Started December 13. had a CT and they found nothing so now waiting on HIDA scan for gallbladder. The worst thing for me is if I sit in a car for an extended period. It really aggravates it. Whatever "it" is.

    • Edited

So many of us have something similar, and no doctor i have seen has been able to figure it out. I have the same problem sitting in a car, especially for longer drives. It helps me to use a small back support pillow--keeps me from slumping

hi there! I never check this thread anymore, so sorry. so, all is fine so far. I had my third pregnancy since and it was incredibly uncomfortable during that time. The sensation comes and goes but I have a few episodes where I ben over and feel like something I can only describe as an organ flipping or getting stuck. The pain is incredible and takes my breath away for a few moments. I do feel this more in the evening after eating and I do wonder if it has anything to do with having three kids/pregnancies. Perhaps something muscular or maybe an organ out of place.

How are you doing? Have you found anything out?

This is exactly what I've been going through!

It's been 2 months now and I have no idea what this could be.

My gp diagnosed me with acid reflux.

I've been on PPI's for a few weeks now.

I have a very uncomfortable feeling below my ribs, it doesn't hurt too much but it's just uncomfortable.

It's more prominent when I sit down while standing makes it better?

I also have a burning feeling in that part sometimes.

Had nausea once or twice but that's about it. My bloodwork came out normal too.

Did you find out the cause?

@tzumi56935 I have been experiencing this too! I was prescribed acid reflux tablets due to chest pain and they got rid of that, however I stopped taking them (I thought I was experiencing bad cramps with them but this was due to my anti-depressant) anyway, I have something in my right rib, (sometimes in my left but that goes away), feels like an air bubble. It doesn't hurt, its just uncomfortable when I'm sitting.. which is mostly all day due to my job. I also have been having right side pain (which the doctor said was nothing, although he said my pain in the back could be a kidney infection) which has temporarily gone. I was diagnosed with IBS a few months back and I'm lactose intolerant. I stupidly had some galaxy chocolate last night (was craving it) and that's when it started. I've slept on it and low and behold it's still here this morning. I've tried stretching, fluids, acid reflux tablets, indigestion tablets, IBS tablets, the works. Has anyone managed to get rid of their weird rib bubble?

Hi! I'm three months in and it's still here. It gets a bit less uncomfortable some days and a lot worse other days. I really have no idea as to what it could be and honestly, I'm just tired of it now.

I've consulted so many physicians but medications don't seem to help. If you figure out any solution, please share here!!

I also have more discomfort while driving but Im also having a left side ache. The bubble feeling doesn't hurt, im still able to work out. I have started drinking tea and added more fiber to my diet. Has anybody received any diagnosis? I've been having this feeling for about a month or so. Thank You

      still have it 😦

medications aren't helping much in my case. can you keep this thread updated after your appointment in case you find any reason or solution for the discomfort? that would be a big help!

I can't believe i just read your message and you describe exactly what has started happening to me. only sometimes and always when im in a sitting position, usually where im quite tucked over. suddenly it feels like an organ pops out from under my rib cage. its very painful and uncomfortable. after about 20 seconds it goes it feels like it gradually moves back into place. i too have had three children .

please let me know if you have got any answers yet to this strange occurance!

I'm so glad i found this feed. I have experienced these same symptoms since Oct. 2014. I'm healthy and take great care of myself. I have had an ultrasound on my gallbladder, an mri on my liver, pancreas, spleen, ect. Only thing found were "blood spots" on my liver which I was told are common and clear on their own. My symptoms are definitely worse in the evening after dinner. So weird. I'd given up hope on figuring it out. I will continue to follow.

same thing happens to me ...usually when I'm doing yoga .

It too doesn't last for long .Its scary as it really feels like I have pierced an organ.

Just under my right lower rib.

sometimes it feels like spasm and it is rock hard when i touch it .

i have had it for a while but it has got worse recently.

About a year ago I had the scan for gall bladder and nothing showed up .

my blood work was all good .

Please up date your post if you find out anything .

just found this forum. still trying to find solution. could be, abdominal cutaneous nerve entrapment syndrome, acnes for short. yes, its a real condition. check it out and ask your doc about it. hope this helps

Hi. I don't know if you follow this thread anymore, but your symptoms are same as mine to a tee (even more than the OP's) It just happened to me three times in a row as a was crunched over trying to strap an ice pack to my knee. It feels like something slides up and out and gets hooked on my right upper rib, just below and to the right of my sternum. I can feel the area become tense and hard. It takes 20 to 30 seconds for it to slide back down. I can actually see my belly move as it recedes. It's quite painful. If it has happened several times close together, I then experience a light fluttering feeling in that general area. In my mind, whatever has been pushing up and out has caused a space, or a tract for abdominal fluid to gurgle or bubble. I first experienced this at least 10 years ago. I had an ultrasound done, but nothing was seen. Since nothing bad has happened, I never sought further workup. Just wish i knew what it was as it's annoying.

wow i just stumbled upon this thread. ive had ribcage pain for about 3 months and ive also got gerd and a hiatal hernia. i feel discomfort in the front and on the sides of my ribs too and my back ribs. its even tender to the touch. ive had a ct, colonoscoy, endoscopy and no answers. they say maybe slow gi and inflammation but nothing difinitive. its so frustrating i dont know what to do to feel better there are no answers.

Hey! Search up "slipping rib". Ive been getting these pains they've all explained for the past 2 years but lately its been getting really worse mostly when I bend over forward, and "slipping rib" was the only syndrome that has come close to what everyone explained and what I've been feeling, especially since I get that "popping out" symptom. Finally going to a doctor soon because it feels so gross lmao, Oh yes and it does act up when I'm just sitting also! Hope I helped a bit!

The way you describe the organ flipping or getting stuck describes me to the T. I have had 4 children, and 1 miscarriage. I have always had these mysterious illnesses where surgery becomes necessary and is labeled exploratory surgery. During my third pregnancy I was found to have a cystic hematoma which eventually ruptured and took out one tube and one ovary. The doctor explained to me that it was DNA left in me since I was in my mother's womb and grew larger each pregnancy I myself had which by baby number three it burst. Maybe look into that. Could have killed us and I remember fighting the whole time just to prove that A I was in fact pregnant and B something was wrong. Also want to note that it ruptured after I ate and drove my car.

Also by pregnancy number 5 the one I lost actually saved my life. I had not been feeling great but my stubbornness and responsibility kept me pushing thru, I had been to several doctors even brought in by ambulance and released finally my husband took me to the next town's hospital. They did not see anything thru sonogram other than the fetal pole, they decided to do lab full panel, I had only 7 liters of blood in my entire body and leukocytes where high. Back into surgury.! I wake with a tube hanging out my stomach. So it was found that due to diverticulitis I had a pouch inflamed in my intestines and it was leaking into my abdomen, my body was trying to fight to no avail. Unfortunately baby had passed 2 weeks before. After all said and done I have an umbilical hernia, lesions on my liver. ulcers on my esophagus, that's a whole another story... but for those with chest pain and gerd mine was found to be ulcers on my esophagus feels like a heart attack when spasms happen. I still have the feeling of something moving flipping or getting stuck on my right side idk if diverticula is going on or what I will be going back to doc. it's been yrs since all this but symptoms have started back which caused me to search and find this discussion. Maybe i should not have ate that popcorn months ago... Sounds crazy but they say it's bad for diverticulitis. Apparently seeds can get lodged in intestines and cause a pocket to form then infection inflamation and eventually tears 😦 . You all be careful and keep talking even when ur symptoms get brushed off and you k now something's wrong find advocate for yourself for ur loved ones and dont give up. God Bless You

omd, this is what I am going thru. But now I have some hard lumps in my abs near my right ribs. The pain underneath my rib as wear it began and I too went because I thought I had a heart attack and they thought it was probably caused by acid. But I have felt since March that this constant ache and burning is something, and now the lumps. I'm trying not to worry.

      Hello Theresa.

i have also been experiencing the exact same symptoms as you, feeling like my liver pops out under my right ribcage when bending over sometimes. It is often uncomfortable when i sit down for a period on my right side.

I too have had three children; each large babies who gave me quite the discomfort and is when i first began experiencing these symptoms.

      Have you had any outcomes?

    • Edited

do you think this is posture related? i have has my gallbladder removed 17 years ago and suffer with IBS and acid reflux but i feel this ache/ pressure feels skeletal and i do slump my shoulders due to being large breasted

Hi Anna. I had this exact thing after my first baby. It is a floating rib & after many years it stopped. I hope this helps. Ask your doctor about it.

hi, the exact same thing happened to me doing yoga. Happened a couple of years ago then it went away by itself. Then it happened again a couple of weeks ago. I also have IBS but for the most part this is under control, i also have daily omperezole, its weird like a cramp when it first happens then it feels like something is sticking out under my rib cage

Oh man, I could write a novel on all this. Began in 2014 in a plank position. Felt like a golf ball protruded thru my solar plexus area. Over the next 3 years it happened 3-4 more times - sometimes in solar plexus area, then under left ribs. Had all GI exams you can have over a 2 years period. Nothing. No hernias of any kind. Recently its been under my right rib. Usually starts from a sneeze, cough or bending over movement. Either a golf ball protrudes or a hard and tense sentation onslaught where I have to push it in or hold it as it feels like its about to explode. Lasts from 30-90 seconds then "recedes." But makes the area feel vulnerable for about 2-3 days. i've had MRI's and do have a 2cm mass on pancreas, but that's been ruled out. I get regular pain in rear right ribs that is quite painful now. I saw 5 Dr's at Cleveland Clinic and never got a diagnosis. Just deer in headlights - no further path to explore. Now seeing sports chiro, but this is to loosing joints that are blocked. After 7 years, still searching for a diagnosis, coming up empty. Life is on hold...

Hi There! I rarely log in here and just seeing your response. have you found anything out? At this point it has been years for me and I'm convinced it can't be nothing. Have you looked up a left lobe liver torsion? It is rare but would explain some of our symptoms. I hope you are well!

I also have the symptoms as all of you above .. I have a hiatal hernia since 2009, went for operation but its still there, and for the last month I suffer from heartburn / gerd. I have 3 baby's which 13 years is the youngest...I also just all of a sudden felt it and if i put my hand on it then it 'moves' freaked me out as i have no idea what it could be... now and again Im also tender and sometimes it hurts is on the front right hand side where my ribs is at the bottom part... I even told my husband that it feels like my body is to small for my organs as it feels like it.. why is it that so many people suffer from this and no doctor knows what is going on? There must be some explanation at least... may we all stay strong and get an answer

    • Edited

I made an acct just to answer this for you because i had the same issue. I was in great shape, had built good core muscles but when I was in the car I felt like there was a ballot something pushing up under my lower right rib cage. No pain, just a weird discomfort. I had lots of tests and scans that showed nothing. One day I was in with a spinal doctor who said she had had that herself and it was a sacroiliac joint problem (which I was there for). It makes sense because when driving both legs/hips are positioned differently. On a side note I also have a true leg length discrepancy. I was sent to physical therapy and the problem resolved!

    • Posted

Did you get a diagnosis? you describe to a T what I am going through. Feels like there is something pushing under my left rib cage, sometimes my left side aches, and left back too. Its not really painful, just more annoying.

SAME!!! every once in awhile ill bend forward and something gets stuck under my right rib and i cant move or breath and then for 2 days im in pain like i ripped something.. this has happened randomly for 18 yrs now and nobody can find anything wrong.. happened yesterday and today my right side is burning and i cant lift or move witjout pain.

hello! just wondering how you went about getting this diagnosed? thanks 😃

    • Posted

thanks makes so much sence. started with Sacro illiac joint pain 4 years ago. functional legdiscrepancy, pretty sure my right hip has forward tilt, not sitting right in SI joint. the front startet by feeling streched, and like there is not much room to breath if I try, to breath deep. I feel it all into my SI joint. bening forward, sitting in car and eating makes it worse(dont know what is the issue with eating) have some urineal problems(leokocytes and whit stuff in urin, but only in evening) I dont know if maybe kidneys gets over streched from the twist perhaps. also have bumbs on left ribcage, probably from twisting as well. I am very happy to read this post, because I started to worry it was a seperate thing. I am getting checked, but this seems plausible from what I initially thought. For you who have been pregnant. physisians did always think my SI jointproblem was caused by pregnancy(never had kids) but I am hypermobile, which like when oregnant can destabelise the joint. So maybe all if you, see if your pelvic seems assymetrical.

I know know most of this post is old but yours is newer. I have same problem as first post. I did have hiatal hernia and had the surgery. But still have the same feeling like there is a big bubble there. Kind of feeling same as baby being there. I dont have a gallbladder and my blood work for liver is fine. This has been a problem I have had for many years. My new GI dr told me about hernia said that was the problem. I thought I was finally going to be ok. But surgery only got rid of reflux. If anybody got some answers please let me know.

This is so similar to my problem. going on a year now, not seen a doc as it doesn't seem like it will be diagnosed properly. 40 years old male, fit and healthy. When I'm not having a flare up, (which is usually an acidy burning pain that comes in waves right under my right bottom rib) I have occasional back pain in the area too, it feels to me to be inflammation triggered. I don't have the bubble feeling very often but I do have a constant feeling of something touching my skin just below my ribs on my right side. Weird feeling, like a label is touching my skin from my shirt, and if I place my hand on the area, the feeling disappears. Makes me think something gets inflamed and aggravates a nerve or something.

Hi Candice. I hope you see this. I sit and do a lot of computer work and what this feels like to me (just checking to see if this sounds familiar) is there is a sock like feeling stuck in my liver area. It comes and goes and is not painful even when I press on it. They did find a 1 cm spot on my liver years ago and were not concerned by this but what peaked my interested about your post is the SPINE! I fell on my tail bone in college and my L4 and L5 is completely jacked up. I have back pain low central back pain and sciatica that comes and goes and wonder if this feeling is back/spine related. It's so weird and I am freaking out it's my liver!? I am not jaundice, not over-weight, no issues with food going down or coming out, not bloated or any of that jazz! Anybody's thoughts?

    • Edited

Hey jim41532--I just made an account because I have exactly the same feeling, down to the "label touching my skin" and "if I place my hand on the area, the feeling disappear".

46 year old male, decently fit and healthy. I run and swim and only a tad overweight.

Had x-rays and ultrasound and going in for CT soon. I will post if I find anything. Let me know if you make any progress.

Hi rob25723, I guess this is comforting to both of us that someone has the same issue. I have not yet seen anyone about it, as it doesn't seem enough to go to a doctor about. This thread gave me little confidence too as people talk of their long journey to find nothing apparent. This all started for me after lifting a heavy bed with my back when trying to pull some carpet up in October 2021. It didn't bother me for 6 months till April and has been on and off since. My thoughts now are that it's related to that and possible 'intercostal neuralgia' I am in the UK and our health service is really struggling at the moment which is another reason why I have put off doing anything about it. One relatable thing is I am also slightly overweight 5-10kgs max, not sure that's anything though. Very interested to see what your scans find. keep updating 👍🏻

i am just wondering if you or anyone else on here feels the pain sometimes when laying on your left side? ill lay on my left side and something will feel as of it twist or "pops out" under my right innermost rib cage. It really scares me and is quite painful

    • Posted

Update: CT showed nothing, as jim41532 correctly predicted. Doctor just says "likely musculoskeletal origin" which leaves me pretty much where I started. But at least it's not something scary. If I ever find out more and especially if I find out how to make it go away I will come back to post. For me it's back to swimming. Maybe that will fix it.

Same here guys. I'm a healthy 43 year old. Starting having pain upper right abdomen/lower rib area off and on over the past 6 months. I thought it was gallbladder related as eating certain foods seems to trigger it...or so I thought. Pain would be dull and go away the next day or 2 usually. About 10 days ago the pain started again and hasn't gone away. It's a dull pain and when I lay on my right side it feels swollen in that area. Ultrasound on gallbladder, kidney, liver, pancreas all good. Blood work all good. Waiting on x-ray results as of today. I don't remember an incident when I injured it but I do mountain bike and have taken some spills in the last year so who knows. I'm just worked up about it but it helps to have found this page and see others are having very similar issue but no serious issues...

Hi gents - I have exactly the same issues as you all report. I’ve experienced this discomfort to some extent for over 5 years. I best describe it as a gnawing / stabbing / pinching pain under my right rib, which radiates to my side and back. in the past 2 months i have had bloods and ultrasound... both normal. If you manage to get a diagnosis or solution i would be grateful if you could update this forum. Many thanks Tom

      hi tom25151,

      these are my present thoughts.

Thoracic spine compression - inflammation of intercostal nerves. (run from spine in 'intercostal muscles' (under each rib) through to abdomen) I had shooting spine pain while doing sit ups 18 months ago which lasted a week or so, and then after lifting a heavy wooden bed from underneath with my back, this all started. I first thought it was internal, maybe gallbladder or intestinal. But all bodily function is normal. If I push my fingers between a specific 2 of my ribs, on my right flank (and only these 2) I get a spasm and pain that runs a ring around from my spine to the front, this does seem to improve it strangely enough. I'm also working on improving my posture too, as I drive a lot for work, but it feels like it's helping.

    • Posted

      Hi Jim

Sounds very familiar - which two ribs do you press your finger between.? Have you had any physio or chiropractor work done?

      Regards

      Tom

      Hi Tom,

couldn't say for sure, I believe its the muscle that would run to under the bottom rib. Other things to compare, played lots of golf as a youngster and got back into it the last few years. Also had a new mattress in the last 2 years and I am a side sleeper, mainly the side with issues. haven't had any work with physio etc. Had back issues many times over the years and have a slight issue with lumber lordisis which I have always had. drive a lot for my job. feeling is not present when im walking. I'm quite positive about it recently as it has eased a lot of late. Also having people of a similar age with the same issue takes the worry out of it.

      Hi Jim

Docs appointment this morning and he believes muscular... he has advised physio, so I have booked privately. I have noticed when the pain arises I am also generally full of gas!! So I assume this could be adding to the issues.

Ill keep you posted on any improvement!

Folks just a brief update. I had a screening colonoscopy already scheduled (I dont think I would have had one just for this issue) and they found nothing So now i have done x-ray, ultrasound, CT and colonoscopy with no findings. Discomfort continues, on and off, going on my 4th month. Its got to be musculoskeletal or a nerve inflammation like Jim says. I came across this Tietze syndrome recently but it does not seem a great fit for symptoms. The saga continues...

      Hi Gents

Im reassured to read this, I am a male of 56, pretty fit and active, and I have the exact same symptoms for some months now, a feeling of pressure or a bulge under my right rib area, particularly if i sit or bend, or am eating. If i stand and stretch or push the area it goes away. I drive for work a lot so wonder if posture aggravates it.

I have also suffered with indigestion, heartburn and acid reflux more over the past few months, so I'm guessing its all related somewhere.

Occasionally i can twist or move, and it feels like a small electric shock or pain under my rib.

I've not been checked at all yet, it seems to come and go!

      Hi,

I was amazed to see so many others have almost the same issues I have, and this is just one discussion board.

I am a 62 yo female with Hiatal Hernia, Gerd, Peptic Ulcer and some lesions on my liver. But I think my biggest problem is H.Pylori. It is most likely that the H.Pylori has caused all the other mention problems over many years. I also, like most of you have the feeling of pressure up under my right rib cage. I feel it mostly when I am bloated from wrong food or drink and in the sitting position. The things that I have tried that have and have not helped me are.

      -Things that made me worse:

.Alcohol, dont think i need to explain that one.

.Strong PPI's: I was taking Prilosec for several months and the pressure went from being in just the right side to the pressure on right and actual pain on left. I concluded that my gallbladder and my spleen where both inflamed. Researched prilosec and found if you do not have enough bile/acid, it can actually make things worse, especially for your liver. I do not have enough Bile acid. Look up the baking soda test on line to check if your bile is to much or to low. Its easy and safe.

      -Things that helped me:

. Digestive enzymes before and after meals as needed.

.DGL (its a licorice root) helps line the stomach and intestines.

.Tudca, this gave me some immediate relief with the right side pressure. I felt a slight tingling in that area and then relief. This supplement helps clean up your liver and get proper bile flow from your gallbladder. Almost no side effects listed. Beware your poop may be a funny color right after. I figured that was sludge. Note, You can NOT use it while you are consuming alcohol. Your system has to be clear of alcohol or it may make things worse instead of better. DO your research, but I like this one. Im not cured, but i feel a lot better.

.Wedge Pillow for the acid reflux

. Gaviscon. If you really need help with the acid reflux this is much better overall then a ppi, in my situation and my opinion.

.Melantonin, all these issues can really keep you awake at night. Start at 3-5mg. and then if you need to go to 10mg. fine. Anymore, than that can actually keep you awake. According to research i read.

. Get tested for H.Pylori. If you cant get tested, check your tongue. If there is a white or yellowish film on it, that could indicate H.pylori or Candidas. You can look that one up too. Natural treatments Im doing to remedy this are; Mastic gum and H.Pylori Fight supplement, which is mostly L.Returi strain probiotic. I have another month of this protocol before i can test again. Fingers crossed, or I will have to do the antibiotic protocol. Again, you can find this protocol on line.

Well good luck everyone and I wish you all good health.

Hi, was googling my symptoms and came across this post. same symptoms on and off over probably 12 months. Currently on day 3 of constant discomfort but no pain its driving me mad. Feels like it's going to burst/pop whatever it is. Only thing which eases is by stretching backwards, feels like it dislodges something. finally been to see doc thinking it must be my gallbladder or liver related and now awaiting an ultrasound but reading through everyone's comments not expecting it to reveal anything. anyone got to the bottom of this yet?

      Hi guys,

Ive had constant discomfort below my right rib (upper right abdomen) foe almost 4 years now. Ive had all types of tests for this including mri's/ultrasounds/colonoscopy/endoscopy etc, but nothing's been detectable. I do have crohns disease but according to my levels this isnt my crohns. Its worse when Im sat down/lay down and often relieved slightly when pressure is applied. Not sure if anyone has experienced anything similar?

This has started happening to me. I'm fairly certain this was brought on and is aggravated by terrible seating posture at my desk. I feel it when driving as well, a big sliding ball wedged under my right lower ribs, and dull pain that sometimes radiates around into my back. Intercostal neuralgia seems most likely from what i've read, however, medicine is not my domain. Encouraging that a few of us have this, and doesn't seem anything serious, but also discouraging that medical experts can't pin anything down. Anyway, i'm grateful to have found you chaps, because i don't have the time nor patience for dealing with the clunk fest broken down NHS anytime soon. Cheers.

Was googling my symptoms and found this site. I have actually had what feels like a bruised rib, on and off, for over 10 years. it started after I got my first ipad so for years I thought it was like a repetitive strain. I have never seen a Dr about it because sometimes it goes, plus I have a manual job which I think isn't helping it. I too, sometimes get what feels like an organ getting twisted. Say if I lean out of bed funny... I have to hold my tummy for a second and then it goes. its a horrible feeling though. When i stand up sometimes I think there is a slight bulge on the right side of my tummy but if I lie down and have a feel there is nothing there. The thing that bothers me the most which is more recent is that feeling that something is stuck behind my rib. It just feels a bit uncomfortable. It doesn't bother me enough to want to see a Dr about it but am interested to follow here to see if anybody ever gets an answer!

omg so weird exactly the same! ive gained weight since having c section 4 years ago. I am about a size 12-14 at the moment usually quite flexible and active not so much any more. had back and stomach pain since child birth. Had lots of tests, got small umbilical hernia, during pregnancy my ribs were so painful. Ihave ibs, get acid reflux, couldn't tolerate endoscopy. it'just happened again bent over to take shoes off and it feels like a hernia or organ pops out from under right rib it hurts and then goes back when I straighten up. also occassionally get chest pain. Had US, chest xray, mri and CT. waiting for another endoscopy.
