Pelvic Floor Dysfunction

So my urologist thinks I have a pelvic floor dysfunction because of the symptoms I've been having.  Everytime I go the bathroom (number 1 or number 2), my muscles down there seem to tense up.  For example, I can't relax myself going poop without having a spasm, therefore i stop myself from having a complete bowel movement.  Similarly, going pee, my sphincter contracts so i sometimes stop peeing mid-stream.  So doing some research on pelvic floor muscle issues, it seems like I have hypertonic pelvic floor muscles, which are muscles that are too tight and contract often.  However, when i went to my pelvic floor therapist, it seemed like my muscles were calm and relaxed while at rest.  The resarch stated that hypertonic muscles are usually always tight and tense, but mine seem tight only when Im going the bathroom.  Therefore, do I even have hypertonic muscles, aka pelvic floor dysfunction.  also, my therapist said to do kegals but i heard thats worse for hypetonic muscles. help
