Please help. My husband is 37 and has been in ICU for one month now with severe acute pancreatitis. He had kidney failure and needed dialysis the but that has improved. He has a trache and has been sedated and out of it for over 3 weeks now. In the most recent CT scan the doctors told me his pancreas is still as inflamed as the image they had from over two weeks ago and now he has fluid build up around his lungs. What should I be doing to ensure he has the proper care? What questions should I be asking? Thank you.

Pancreas still inflamed after 1 month? It should have become normal right now, especially being in an ICU. Is your husband body getting swollen especially legs and arms?

No. It did when his kidneys failed in the first few days we arrived at the hospital but he was put on dialysis treatments and improved. Then his kidney function began improving and he hasn't needed dialysis in the last week.
