can having PMR affect existing osteoarthritis, or can PMR manifest as osteoarthritis? How do you know if the pain is PMR?

Thank you for any comments.

It certainly affects me.  I have PMR and poly arthritis(among other things) and it is difficult to say sometimes where the pain is coming from - the only ones I KNOW are PMR pain are shoulders, upper arms and wrists (those were evident from day one), but hips, knees and ankles are also bilateral SO?!!

    Frustrating, isn't it?????

My PMR seemed to start as bilateral hip bursitis which was helped by steroid shots. PT made it worse so did stretching. Then it went to arms and shoulders- helped by steroid shots. Then it went to knees always bilateral.

one strange thing was that one leg got bigger than the other and I started to feel really unwell. As soon as my rheumy put me on 15 pred it al went away.

this is one of the things that my rhymi has asked me to reduce the intake of pred to see what happens, now down to 5.5 using the dsns method, so watch this space.
