Possible Fibro

Posted , 5 users are following.

Healthy 28, m Australia here.

Recently I had a severe flu/cold that lasted for about 5 weeks- in all honestly I still have a cough thats lingering.

Recently, iv had some strange things happen to me which may be possible fibro, but id like your help in this.

- Muscle and joint zaps (including twitching). Very short and sometimes quite painful

- Lack of appetite

- Semi brain fog

- Feeling generally unwell

- Sleeping fine, no issues there

- Dont really feel tired at all (still can do gym as usual)

- No headaches

- Increase anxiety (for some reason?)

It feels like if I lay down I feel less sick and less body aches. When i wake up, i dont have any symptoms  but when i start moving they kick in.

Any help?

This doesn't sound like Fibro to me....look up Fibro....on the web...there are like 18 trigger points where people have tenderness or pain....

Woman are mostly inflicted with Fibro and there are not definitive tests for Fibro.

So what the Drs do...is take blood work for other things such as Lyme disease and Lupus and Celaic and rule those out...and then if your still having symptoms and meet the "tender points' for Fibro...they usually diagnos Fibro.

So really you have to go to your Dr...and tell him/her how you are feeling.

Hiya xen, welcome to us Fibroites, I'm in Australia too-Tasmania, ex Sydney... I've had Fibro for 30 years I had it for 10 years before diagnosis.its quite hard to diagnose because we have sooo many varued symptoms..a Rhumotologist is the specialist that diagnoses...there are trigger points....I had many tests over those 10 years prior to seeing a Rhumo...they told the doc nothing..the way I was diagnosed was the pressure points..although I suppose all the tests I'd had prior including a full body scan..probably ruled out other things, which is good in itself ...Fibro normally hits a person when they have had a shock to their system like an operation a fall, a car crash, illness etc...mine was varied..I also have other autoimmune Syndromes too..many of us on here do...hope you find what your looking for xen..be blessed and have a lovely day..:-) xx

Thanks Christine, its a strange bunch of symptoms iv had. Not too sure what it is, hopefully something viral that is lingering around. I cant say i have any tender points. Muscles feel fine, just strange aches non stop. The only shock to my system that iv recently had was getting the flu

I honestly hooe and oray that it isn't Fibro xen and is a viral infection, but I have to say I've been sick like that - really bad fluish  symptoms, high no appetite, temperature high etc, no cough or sore  throat and it was just my Fibro..the doc said, there was nothing he could give me to help except Panadol for the fever and aches/pains etc,,, ..however, saying that I'd had Fibro for  25 yrs when I got that......so hopefully you have a viral infection.m that will go in time...hope so anyway...:-) xxx

Hi Zen, I have to say it doesn't sound like fibro to me. Sounds more like a prolonged viral infection but the only way to be sure is to go back to your GP and tell him/her about your symptoms, be persistent until you feel satisfied that everything that is necessary has been done for you. Take care & good luck.

To be honest it doesn't really sound like fibro though there is a spectrum of symptoms and not everyone has the same symptoms. Almost every woman in my family has it and though we all have chronic back and nerve pain, 4 may have insomnia while 3 have migraines while 2 have constant locking joints like their fingers and toes. See?

That being said, most of what you listed is nothing like fibro. It sounds like a viral infection that never cleared your system so you kicked the worst of it and was grateful but it's still in your system sapping your energy. Go to your doctor to get some blood work.
