Pressure in head feels like I'm dying

Hi Stella. I too suffer from head pressure and tinnitus I believe, it is one of the symptoms of the menopause.

Hi Stella, so sorry about this, it's terribly scary. I had an experience like this about 5 years ago just after I retired. Never found a definitive cause, but for me it seemed to be related to an underactive thyroid getting progressively worse. I was prescribed levothyroxine and didn't tolerate it well. I went through phases of pounding throbbing head accompanied by heart palpitations, and developed tinnitus in one ear. Thought i was having a stroke. Got so desperate I stopped taking the thyroxine, the tinnitus stopped within two weeks. Saw a thyroid specialist who said I have to take thyroxine, but prescribed me a very low dose beta- blocker to control the heart palpitations. This seemed to work, and the beta blocker helps my blood pressure which was also fluctuating madly. At the same time my cholesterol went haywire - thyroid deficiency affects that as well, so now take a statin. Don't know if this helps at all, but it might be worth having a blood test to check your thyroid function. Underactive thyroid can affect so many things - it made me lethargic and depressed, in addition to the physical effects. I do hope you feel better soon. X
