Primary Addisons Disease

I have had Addisons disease for 7 years, lately though I found BP was high so had to drop Fludrocortisone, my blood pressure before meds is 112/68 resting then on standing it goes up to 122/74... once my meds are taken even 8 hours after my BP is higher but not alarmingly however on standing systolic increases by 24,  my heart rate increases by 8 which I think is normal Is this too much of a raise in systolic BP

I think with great respect that you are treating BP measurements as exact science. They are not. Just think of the number of times BP's have to be redone by doctors and nurses. They can vary wildly in a single day. The old rule was not to worry if the systilic figure was more than 100 plus your age in years.

    Cheers

Hi, blood pressure of 122/74 is perfect. Mine goes up to 200/110 or more due to adrenal problem and I get awful symptoms with it. I doubt you are getting any symptoms with your BP.

Not much help on the standing changes but am just dealing with my mums blood pressure meds and they consider 130/80 as controlled blood pressure - have just read the stuff on blood pressure meds and it seems that though blood pressure tabs lower bood pressure they have no impact on survival rates - you just die with a lower blood pressure so unless you have actual health problems you are experience because of the change in blood pressure when you stand maybe its not worth worrying about - you may have to ask your treating Dr or a internal medicine specialist - my recent knowledge is just dealing with High blood pressure not medicine induced and standing raise in BP - sorry to not be of much use but the cardiologist recommended only taking BP in AM and PM - take twio measures each time with five minutes in between and make an average. He also said never take your BP when you are stressed or worried about it. so maybe worth checking at those times.

Thanks for the info, luckily I am not on any Blood pressure meds Just steroids for Addisons disease so  I probably am worrying over nothing,  the worst thing was to buy my on BP monitor in the first place. Looking at all other comments mine seems pretty good . Thank You for the help much appreciated

Having your blood pressure rise a bit when you stand up is a good thing and normal - it stops you feeling dizzy and faint. One of the reasons my doctors are worried is because my blood pressure is lower when I stand than sit, which is opposite of what should happen (and makes me mega dizzy n faint). Sounds like you don't need the extra meds anymore and perfectly normal without :-)
