Its not very clear from your description what your problem is. When you say you got put to sleep but all clear what do you mean.

If you have been diagnosed with acid reflux have you been given any medication for it such as Omeprazole. How long have you had the symptoms. Acid reflux can cause the symptoms you describe - I suffer from it myself. Have you seen a gastroenterologist? if not it may be a good idea to see one. Have you been tested for the tummy bug H Pylori as that can cause similar problems in some people. You also need to determine whether your throat problems and the phlegm in your throat is part of the same problem.

If you can give some more specific details we may be able to offer more specific advice.

      Hi

What dose of Omeprazole were you given.  I was recently admitted to hospital with horrendous acid reflux and abdominal pain.  I was put on 80mg Omeprazole which is a very high dose as well as Ranitidine, also known as Zantac 300mg.  Even on such high doses it took 3 days for the symptoms to come under control.  Even now and still taking the same dose I still ocassionally get acid particularly at night.  A higher dose of Omeprazole may help or a change to a different drug in the same family  such as Lanzoprazole - it does take some time to see the full benefit - the drugs suppress the acid but it takes time for your body to repair any damage done to it.   When you had the endoscopy were you tested for H Pylori which can cause some dreadful symptoms in some people.

Are you in the UK - if you are it may be a good idea if you ask your GP for a referral to a gastroenterologist to investigate further and try and get your symptoms under control.

      Wishing you all the best

      Hi Debbie

I live in wigan, yes i am on 20mg omeprazole , I don't think I had a h pylori, not sure what that is, I don't really get acid taste in my throat it's manly  a heavy pain and phlem to the right below the Adam's apple

always bringing my food back up and very sharp pain in chest and back,  even went to the hospital thinking I was having a heart attack,  they said it was heart burn but am not so sure,

Doesn't really stop me from sleeping if any think it helps,  it's bin the worst year and a half of my life

I am in Wakefield West Yorkshire and I also have pain just below the breast bone and it radiates through to the back too - I am having to take painkillers as well as the stomach meds.  I've been having problems for the last 9 months and like you it has been the worst ordeal of my life.  My gallbladder was found to be not functioning and so I had it removed in April but the pain of the gallbladder masked the stomach pain.  As soon as I had it out withing 3 days I was swamped with acid and a week later I was admitted to hospital as I couldn't eat or drink due to the pain.  I'm now on the dose that I stated earlier.  I tested positive for H Pylori which is a bug that can caused ulcers and inflammation in the stomach and needs antibiotics to clear it up.  The NHS has greatly let me down with all of this and the eternal waiting lists so I have had to pay for 3 private consultations to get proper diagnosis (even though I could ill afford it).  If you are not under a specialist I would strongly suggest that you request a referral as soon as possible because it is anything up to 18 weeks that you will have to wait to get an appointment unless you can afford to see a consultant privately just to get things moving.

If they have said it is acid reflux then it probably is but you need to be sure but you also probably need an increase in the dose of Omeprazole until things start to settle down and it can take some time for that to happen.

Hope things start to settle down for you soon.

      Debbie

      Hi there

Why don't u ask ur health care provider about switching to PPI to control ur heartburn. This is callled stepping up approach as the weak strength therapy ur on does not seem to control ur symptoms
