Hi

Long story short. Pain both shoulders but manageable approximately April/may ultrasound showed bursitis right shoulder nothing left but left started to get a lot worse. I did have an injury to my left arm in April X-ray showed soft tissue damage to forearm . 2 steroid shots in left shoulder later, pain got worse, can't dry back get dressed rom ridiculous. Sent for MRI 3 doctors said proximal humerus fracture. Finally seen specialist no fracture but really tight frozen shoulder 3rd steroid shot given, so going back 14th September for decision time regarding treatment. In agony and yes my shoulder feels broke like something hanging. Can't sleep etc and my other shoulder has worsening pain. I'm struggling badly. My ROM is practically none existent yet I here others who have reasonable ROM. My main problem is driving luckily I have an automatic but even using indicator is painful and going over bumps hurts. My husband can't drive due to epilepsy and living in a village we need our car. Anyone else really struggling with this. It's causing arguments in the home because I'm reluctant to give up driving

Wall, I too have FS.  I'm not sure what stage you are in (there are 3) but i know the pain youare describing.

Is there anyone in your life that can help with the driving, until you can manage it better?

Also are you going to physical therapy now?

Ask your doctor if you can have Diclofenac Sodium Topical Gel 1%.  It takes the edge off and you can do more.

I've used this since July and it made a difference- it's transderal (like the nicotine patch) and absorbs into your skin.

Only thing is- surface has to be clean and your hands when applying because it will absorb anything, dirt, perfume, etc into your body.

Also taking a hot shower before you have to do your driving might help also.

Its a heat and ice thing for me- pain gets ice- stretching i use heat..

      hope it helps

wall, it sounds as though you are in the freezing stage which is agony. If you have two going at the same time that would be VERY unfortunate. Mine were seperated by a few years at least. If it's any consolation, once the joint is frozen there is not so much pain. But it becomes impossible to move because it's as though the joint is cemented in place, so you have to become a contortionist.

On other threads and on this one people mention possible meds, but I was never given any when I had it. What worked best for me was acupuncture. PT did nothing, but some people say it helps them.

If you are arguing because your husband feels you should not drive is there an alternative? Do you have any sort of bus or shuttle? Once it freezes you will be able to drive, but your ROM will be very limited.

It looks like I need to ride it out. Buses here arnt very good sometimes they don't even arrive unfortunately

Do you or your husband have to get to jobs...is that the issue?

If so, could you possibly claim disability till you are able to move without severe pain? I assume you are in the UK so I don't know what is available to you.

    Update

Seen surgeon today. I should have been getting physio since I last seen him over 3 weeks ago but no appointment came so sending me for physio then see him again in 6 weeks, if no relief ( which he is very sceptical about) then he will operate
