Hi I am taking amitriptyline to help me relax and sleep at night

I wondered what dose other people take as I seem to be on a very low dose

    Hi I take 20mg but generally gives me an awful headache so stopped taking it I have bought some sleepeeze from my pharmacy 1 a night and find this works much better for me .... jan

    I'm taking 25mg a night which can be increased to 50mg should the need arise . So far 25mg has been sufficient.

    I take 20 mg amitriptyline every night and have done over many years. I started out taking 50 mg and slowly little by little reduced the dose.

    My doctor prescribed 50 mg, but the pharmacist recommended taking half the dosage. I took 25 mg, but I had some strange reactions to it (very strange dreams). I stopped taking it, and switched to Tylenol PM-that was the answer for me!

      I found taking 50mg gave me restless body symptoms....as In restless leg syndrome.....it was awful so cut back to 25mg....all good 😊
