Hi
I was wondering can anyone relate to having sleep problems while taking citroplam i am not sure if its the anxiety or the medication that is stopping me from sleeping?
I am three months on cit just over two weeks taking 30mg, i have no problem falling asleep but will wake after 2 - 3 hours and some nights i will not get back to sleep.. i feel a little improvement in my mood but this is really setting me back, i never had issues with sleep before all of this and i have been on cit before and never had an issue with sleep then, can anyone relate to this thanks so much xx

Give it a little more time to kick in , i think once the cit is in full effect you have no difficulty falling asleep, for now you can ask your gp for some anxiolytic meds to help you sleep better... Then take it as needed only.....
Hope it wear off soon.... And youll get better sleep...

Took me bloody ages to get to sleep each night until 8 weeks in cit started working fully.
Took lots of sleeping tablets to get me through that period but none at all now.

I've been on Cit for 3 and a half weeks now and I have issues falling asleep! As a university student, falling asleep at 7am is not ideal when you need to be awake at 9!Â
I'm trying to sleep as much as possible, so if that means I sleep during the day, that's what happens. I'm hoping the insomnia goes soon!Â
I know what you mean about it making you feel worse. My most anxious time now is when I'm laid awake in the early hours of the morning with my thoughts for company!Â
I hope the Cit is helping you, I know my anxiety is starting to improve already!Â

Thank you for your reply, I know it really is a nightmare not sleeping and when your awake during the night you panic about not getting any sleep and panic about feeling worse the nxt day, it's a vicious cycle really.
I hope you got some rest over the weekend?
Get well soon

Only way I found to combat it was a zolpidam sleeping tablet prescribed by my Dr. Worried about it at first but in the end after endless sleepless nights took one almost every night (apart from wkends) for a couple of weeks as no sleep was doing my head in.
I found the more good nights sleep I got the quicker my side effects eased and hence the quicker I stopped needing the sleeping pills.

Just re-read my post again.
I was worried myself but after too many no sleep nights I had to take them in the end & found the more sleep I got the better I became and then did not require them anymore after 3 to 4 weeks of taking them when needed - as equilibrium had restored itself re getting tired & sleepy at the right time & nodding off easier.

I am much the same thanks for asking, I didn't have a great wkend with sleep awake for about 3 or 4 hours every night I suppose I am getting maybe 5 hours altogether but very scattered..
I do believe if my sleep was back to normal I would be recovering quicker, I never suffered with sleep issues if anything I always found it hard to get out of bed..
My gp has referred me to a pysciatrist which I am going to see tomorrow , I am very nervous about this as I am afraid he will say cit is not working for me and I have preserved so long with them now I hate to start all over again, I started taking them for anxiety and panic attacks cit has helped with this but it's the lost depressed feeling that I am left battling with
Sorry to go on you are probably sorry you asked now!!
Thanks nicola x
