sore tongue-feels like ulcers-anyone else?

Hi everyone, I'm currently treating ppi's for acid reflux (no luck yet). I seem to get sore throat, hoarseness and irritated chest but not much if any heartburn. I also get a sore feeling often at the back sided of my tongue. It feels like little ulcers. I figured it could be due to the acidity, does anyone else get this? Also, I get a sore throat a lot. Any suggestions on what I can do to help. All the usual sore throat treatments to help ease my sore throat seem to contain mint, menthol etc which isn't recommended with reflux!? X

Thanks Maureen. I finally managed to get to the chemist and although it doesn't fix the cause it certainly gives me some relief! X

Not sure about the tongue problem, but I have a constant dry, inflammed feeling in the  throat sort of like the beginning of a viral cold episode. Have you been to an ENT specialist to have it all checked out? You may have "silent" reflux symptoms manifestesting in they symptoms that you are having.

I haven't been to an ENT yet. My doctor wants me to try 4 more weeks on a different PPI but if that doesn't work they'll refer me. I'm not holding out much hope for the PPI to be honest! X

Hi, I forgot to say that the ENT diagnosed LPR, so mamangement is small meals PPI and Motillium - see how I go on that regime.

Hi!yes I get the sore tongue, along with the roof of my mouth! Even my guns feel sore!

I don't suffer with heart burn, but I have the sore throat and congestion in that area. I've been out on lanzoprozole and ranitidine , but it doesn't seem to be helping that much. Mine started with a tickly cough at first, then other symptoms appeared after that! The tablets have seemed to stop the cough but that's about it. The sore mouth seems to be a new thing! It's driving me mad! I do sympathise with you.

    It's bloody awful!

    Hope you feel better soon
