Hi

I was just on this morning and have been pointed to helpful information.

See the Weber test.

I don't know why my ears drained and nobody else has claimed the same thing.

feel better

I will let you know if another dose clears me up completely as there has been no change in either ear since this morning

    Can you tell me what the webber test is please?

    My ear has been blocked for months and seen three consultants and tried loads of different things but no joy!

    I'd like to try the webber test if you think it might help.

      I haven't been able to find any info on the Weber test actually helping drain ears.  It is just a test that helps doc to locate the blockage.

      I don't know why it drained mine.

      They put a musical tuning fork in the centre of your forehead and you tell them where you can hear it.

      I have found info on sound waves doing all sorts of things try goggle sound waves used in medicine.  Noone says anything about draining ears.

      When my ears drained the relief was amazing and immediate.  They still annoying though. I can live it compared to what they were.

      At the worst the Weber test doesn't hurt and you can actually hear with your really annoying ear, if only for a few seconds.  You might not though that will depend on where your blockage is.

      Hope you can find some relief I know how annoying blocked ears can be

      I will have my own tuning fork in a few days and will let you know if it helps a second time, I'm really really really hoping with fingers crossed.

      I'm so happy for you leila! To get some relief from this awful condition must feel wonderful.

      I have another ent appointment on 21st and will see if the consultant uses the fork if not I'll ask him about it.

      Good luck with the fork hope it works for the second time. Please let me know how you get on.

    Hi

    I'm really annoyed.  Was supposed to get tuning fork yesterday.  the shop rambled something about shipping costs and hadn't even put my order in.  Really not happy.  They said that it will turn up early next week as they are putting in a bulk order today.  Hope so.

    My ears are still the same, driving me nuts.

      Oh how annoying for you ! So frustrating too! If only they knew the desperation we feel with this awful condition maybe they'd move a bit quicker!

    Thought I'ld give you an update.

    My ears feel about the same as they have for the last 2 weeks except for pain in my death ear.

    Went to doc Fri, cause right ear was starting hurt more than usual. Doc checked my ears saw nothing wrong.

    Got sent for hearing test did it yesterday, thank god they had a cancelation or couldn't get in till end of Nov.

    New doc found an inflamed scab in my right ear on the posterior wall of the canal. But good news is my hearing is within normal limits but cant hear the 6khz tone in my right ear. Apparently I also have thin scar tissue in right ear but not sure where.

    Got sent back to doc. 

    Went today. Joy o joy back on antibiotics again.  Now I'm waiting for the ent specialist.

    So relieved that I didn't ignore ear feeling worse.  Seems like 4 weeks of antibiotics didn't kill the infection just put it in hiding and it just started to flare up again.

    Hope don't need to take antibiotic for too long.  How could doc not see red scab.  Is posterior wall behind ear drum?  Guess I got more reading to do.

    Will still let you know if tuning fork helps when I finaly get 1. 

    The ear plugs for the hearing test didn't loosen anything at all.  Test wasn't pleasant but only really hurt once, surprise but it hurt my right ear.  Prob me just being a whimp or doc really cranked the 6khz tone cause I could hear the rest good.  Could have just been my ear hurting though cause it does that.

    Hope once infection gone properly ears are all better and don't need to see ent.  Doc says I should even if I'm better.  Guess I will but because this was caused by flu I think I will be wasting ent time. Just have my fingers crossed that I get the chance for that choice. Please let it be so.  All better sounds like heaven.

      This is amazingly interestingly to me. I too have a scab by the membrane and the flesh inside. I wonder if thats from the retracted eustatian tube. What a strange coincidence.

      How long have you had scab ?  Doesn't it heal and go away or turn into scar.  Bet that when it falls off it creates another block.  Don't know where membrane is or prosterior wall for that matter.  Still got to do that reading.  Will get to it though soon as got time.

      I don't know what caused mine had only put ear drops in once then went to doc cause they didn't work. Haven't put anything else in there. 

      Can fluid build up cause enough pressure to create a hole ? 

      scab means injury blood etc.  How do you get 1 in ear ?  Had no injury or scatch not even trying to dig out ear wax, cause I had no wax.

      As I said got a lot more reading to do.

      When they put those ear plugs in for hearing test do they have camera attached so doc can see inside ear ?  She said they measured movement of my ear drum. How ? She also needed me to push button when I heard sound.  Is my reaction and honesty how it works ?

      I think mine has something to do with eczema. I get that. I have no clue. Its a visual so it is there.This whole eustaian tube thing, popping or whatever its doing is all a big nuisance. Im getting a flu shot so after that effect wears off im going to go on an anti inflammation diet. Pinterest had some. And im going to see if that helos it. So strange the retraction doesnt just clear uo asap. It makes me think its inflammation somehow. I have no clue at all. I have been doing some massage thing i saw online. Nothing has changed haha. My diet hasnt been so great the last month or two so maybe aomething im eating is messing with me. I wish i really knew but i dint. Just going to try different things. 

      I did A few tests as well. They usually test hearing i guess thats protocol.they also do some loud ringing thing and know from how it bounces back if its fluid or inflammation. They dont really explain anything haha

      You got it doc sux.  I can never understand them, I need to research but if they talked english it would be so much better.

      Good idea on flu shot, your braver than me.  Hope food illimination helps, that would give you so much relief.

      Good news my 5th round of antibiotic seems to be working, pain level has dropped.  Hopefully hearing will come back too.  I guess I'll see or hear Ha Ha.

      Try to eat properly even if it doesn't help your hearing it can't be bad for you.

      I had a girlfriend who when pregnant had to be oiled and wrapped due to exema.  She spent months in hospital.  Poor thing lucky it went away when she gave birth. 

      Do you think that exema scabs could be blocking your ears. a natural exema cure:  try eating pineapple, ginger, kiwi, and all yellow, orange and red fruits and veg, avocado, grapefruit and spinach.

      avoid salt, soy and vinegar and artificial colour and preservatives and bad fat also avoid triggers such as diary and wheat.

      It also says to eat probiotic but if your avoiding diary guess you need tablet instead of yogurt.

      Don't know if will help but thats what book says.

      Don't know if that helps but am also trying to get teenager to use bicarb on zits rather than expensive cream.

      Guess its one of those things 1 book claims 1 thing another claims another.

      But giving up artificial food can only be good,.  Never eat something thats going to live in your gut for years.  ie preservatives

      Thank you. Some good advice you have written. I did get the flu shot today. Ugh. Kind of making everything thats Wrong more pronounced but im sure in a couple of days that will stop. Salt is definetly out of my diet. I removed red meat as well. Although have to be careful meat b12 and iron. But just going to do it for a month or so. I did the diet thing ince before and felt great its just very time consuming and boring haha. It was before etd so idk now.

      oh I tried the vibration thing behind the ear..nothing. I thought it blocked it more at first but nothing. Sometimes oddly if i put my finger in the ear the muscle is a little sore. Im assuming thats tmj related no clue on that. Did you get the tuning forks yet. And im guessing nothing you havent posted results.

      my diet is pretty healthy but if its an allergy that wouldnt matter much.
