Hi phone call off my kidney doctor today she is going to start me on steroids next month has anyone been on them did you have any side affects

    If you will be taking 20 mg or more probably expect plenty of side effects, but it is a necessary evil.

    I personally have not been on them , however, I've read where they can significantly increase the patients GFR. in what I read online, some patients had up to a 20 to 30 percent increase in function. The side effects depend on the person as each persons tolerance is different. Steroids can effect weight and mood in some. However the benifits can out weigh the side effects from what I've read.They can significantly reduce inflammation in the kidneys as well. please let us know how you do with them. I hope you have a very positive reaction and hope your GFR increases significantly. keep us informed. Best wishes.
