Stubbed toe, severely

Posted , 4 users are following.

After stubbing my little toe 9 weeks ago, my whole foot went black and slightly swollen. Still swollen and still painful, I went to visit the Dr. He can do nothing, and only recommend cream?

Acceptable, and if so for how long?

    Hi there,

I would recommend seeing your GP again, and get him to refer you for an x-ray, to make sure that nothing is broken. Unfortunately, even if the toe is broken, there isn't anything they can do, other than to tell you to rest it. But at least you would know if it is broken or not. I hope this helps.

That's what I was thinking K. At least I would know, thus to be aware of it. Thank you.

It's OK if you have a simple fracture, all they'd do is strap it to the next one, but if it's displaced it might need a pin. The day after I broke my ankle and 5th metatarsal, I slipped on the bath room floor, stubed two toes on my crutch and broke them both, just had them strapped up, bruising lasted for about six weeks, but they're both still a little sore at week 20.

At least I didn't have to have them operated on, unlike the other foot, needed a screw in the 5th metatarsal. Last broke something as a teenager and then it was only one bone at a time.
